We are a loving family with three wonderful children. We live in a beautiful mountainous village in Peloponnese . Sadly , our life has change dramatically since 2022 when my husband was diagnosed with cancer (liposarcoma) . It is a type of cancer which doesn΄t cause a quick death but it is very painful. There are tumors in different parts of his body : abdomen, chest, head and knee-a huge tumor that causes restricted motion.

It was very difficult for doctors to establish the correct diagnosis and there were many delays due to this rare type of cancer . Luckily ,after a great effort we found a doctor in the private clinic “MITERA” in Athens and it was only there that they accepted him so as to treat his hard disease .My husband went through five rounds of chemotherapy(a three- day treatment per round) with ifosphamide +doxorubicin which stopped the cancer for four months. He receives therapy with trabecterin (Yondelis) every three weeks since autumn 2023.

The cost is very high (950€- doctors’ fee, hospitalization, travel expenses from our village to Athens). Some emergency hospitalizations way occur .One such case was last January when my husband had a pulmonary embolism. These kinds of hospitalizations cost 3000€.Regular medical examinations must be done in private clinics for faster results and medicines are an additional cost. My husband (with 82% disability) has applied for a disability pension but he hasn’t received it yet. As for me ,I had a part – time job to cover some expenses but now I ‘m unemployed . As a result , we have spent all our savings and now we can’t afford to continue my husband’s treatments not even cover ours and our children’s needs.

During these months we have managed to cope with this difficult situation thanks to some very kind people who were willing to help us. We are grateful for their valuable help .Now, we need your support in order to continue his treatment and relieve his pain. Our everyday life is a struggle , food, bills , transportation expenses, our children’s needs must be covered so as to have a better quality of life .
