I’m creating this fundraiser to support Matei, someone I personally know and deeply respect for his determination. This is meant to be a collective gift from all of us — a way to support him and make his journey a little easier.

Matei is 19 years old and has already taken on more responsibility than most people his age.

He comes from a modest family with very limited financial resources, yet he managed to achieve something remarkable — he was accepted into medical school in Bucharest. Becoming a doctor is not just a dream for him, it’s a goal he is working toward every single day.

But behind this achievement, there is a daily struggle that most people don’t see.

Matei lives over 220 kilometers away from Bucharest. Every week, he has to travel back and forth by train — leaving on Monday to attend university and returning home on Friday evening. These long and exhausting trips take a toll on his time, energy, and ability to focus on his studies.

On top of that, Matei works part-time as a laborer in a wood warehouse after classes, just to support himself and reduce the burden on his family. Despite the physical work and constant fatigue, he continues to study hard and perform well in university.

What would make a life-changing difference for him is something many of us take for granted: a small, reliable car.

Matei’s wish is simple — to own a modest car like a 2010 Volkswagen Golf. It’s not about comfort or luxury. It’s about saving time, reducing exhaustion, and being able to balance university and work without constantly struggling.

The estimated amount needed is around €4,000, covering the purchase of a reliable used car and the basic costs to get it on the road.

Unfortunately, neither Matei nor his family has the financial means to afford this.
