The International Association of the Dynasty of Babenberg (IADB) is an existing internationally oriented association based in Vienna, Austria.

Its statutory activities extend worldwide and include research, cultural preservation and promotion, education, international communication and cooperation, historical work and the development of related projects and initiatives.

This fundraiser is therefore not about creating an organisation from an idea.

Following an extended period of restructuring and organisational renewal, the IADB is now entering a new stage of development.

The objective is to build the organisational, operational and human foundation required for the coming years: stronger structures, an operational office, new specialists and project participants, improved digital infrastructure, international networking and the activation and expansion of projects.

This initiative is not intended simply as a request for donations.

It is also an invitation to participate.

Financial resources are necessary to develop an organisation, but money alone cannot create meaningful international cooperation.

The greatest potential emerges when:

begin to work together.

We therefore invite people to contribute in different ways.

Long-term participation may develop into project or organisational responsibility according to ability, commitment, trust and the governance rules of the IADB.

Functions and leadership positions are not acquired through financial contributions.

Some may support once.

Some may connect organisations and people.

Some may become active project participants.

Some may ultimately assume significant long-term responsibility.

One person may contribute specialist knowledge.

Another may know a university, museum or cultural institution.

Someone else may have organisational experience.

Another person may introduce an international partner.

Others may contribute technology, historical material, research, communication, project management or simply time and commitment.

Individually, these are separate resources.

Together, they can become projects.

This is why we see the initiative as more than crowdfunding.

It is about collective impact.

You contribute to the network – and the network expands what becomes possible for everyone involved.

The first priority is the further development of the organisational foundation of the IADB.

This includes:

• organisational and governance structures;
• administration and documentation;
• internal responsibilities and working processes;
• project and specialist-area organisation;
• membership and partner administration;
• international coordination;
• preparation for the activation and expansion of further activities.

An international organisation needs more than digital communication.

One of the first tangible objectives of the new development phase is therefore to establish a dedicated operational office.

The office will provide a base for:

• administration;
• international coordination;
• meetings;
• project development;
• communication;
• member and partner relations;
• specialist collaboration;
• development and coordination of connected initiatives.

The initial objective is a practical and economically reasonable office.

As the organisation grows, this operational base can be expanded.

In the longer term, the objective is to move towards a permanent headquarters through the acquisition and/or development of suitable premises.

The IADB requires professional digital structures capable of supporting an international organisation.

This includes the further development of:

• web and communication infrastructure;
• membership and partner systems;
• project management;
• digital documentation and archives;
• international communication;
• public information and publications;
• internal collaboration tools.

The next development stage requires people.

We are interested in people who combine:

expertise + integrity + passion + responsibility.

Depending on the respective field, the IADB will increasingly require:

• specialists;
• researchers;
• historians;
• cultural and educational experts;
• project coordinators;
• international representatives and networkers;
• administrative specialists;
• communication and media professionals;
• digital and technology specialists;
• entrepreneurs and institutional partners;
• people willing to develop and lead projects.

The future organisational structure should also allow capable people to grow into responsibility through actual participation and demonstrated commitment.

The IADB already provides a broad framework for cultural, historical, scientific, educational and international activities.

The new organisational structure is intended to make it possible to reactivate existing activities, develop new initiatives and establish professional project structures.

Larger projects may subsequently receive their own dedicated fundraising campaigns.

One example is MOTORIUM – Centre for Motor Culture & Heritage, currently being established as a new project connected with the IADB.

Internationality is not intended to be a later addition.

It is part of the basic structure of the IADB.

The next development stage therefore also aims to expand:

• international contacts;
• institutional partnerships;
• cooperation with cultural and educational organisations;
• scientific and research connections;
• cooperation with businesses and other organisations;
• international project participation;
• regional representatives and networks;
• collaboration between people with shared interests across national borders.

The first development cycle has an indicative funding framework of €100,000.

The planned priorities are:

Structural development, administration, documentation and project organisation.

Premises and the necessary basic office, meeting, communication and IT infrastructure.

Development of digital, web, communication, membership, partner and project-management structures.

Development of personnel capacity, specialist participation and coordination of projects and working areas.

International contacts, partnerships, communication and institutional development.

Preparation, activation and development of existing and new IADB projects.

Necessary project-related documentation, implementation costs, specialist services and reserve.

The initiative is deliberately structured in phases.

Reaching less than the full target does not mean that the initiative has failed.

Each funding level enables specific prioritised development steps to be implemented.

Underfunding means smaller or slower implementation – not the absence of implementation.

Available resources will therefore first be used for the highest-priority organisational and operational steps.

Additional funding will remain dedicated to the development objectives described in this campaign.

It can be used to:

• accelerate planned development stages;
• expand the operational office earlier;
• increase specialist and project capacity;
• activate additional projects;
• accelerate international cooperation;
• improve digital and organisational infrastructure;
• prepare subsequent development stages;
• bring forward the transition towards a permanent IADB headquarters.

Additional support therefore does not change the purpose of the project.

It allows the same objectives to be reached faster, more comprehensively and with greater long-term capacity.

Some people will support financially.

Some will contribute knowledge.

Some will connect us with others.

Some will develop projects.

Some will open doors.

Some will eventually take responsibility.

The next stage of the IADB should emerge from bringing these contributions together.
