My name is Edyta. I am 51 years old. I have a loving husband, Arek and a 20

year old son, Marcel. I am a support teacher at the Economic Technical School

in Tychy, Poland. I work with young people affected by Asperger's syndrome. I

help them get a job and pass the high school diploma exam.

However hard it is for me I decided to ask for your help and support since this

year in March my world lay in ruins.

It was a quiet evening, I was getting ready for an intense Monday at work and

went to bed a little early that Sunday. In my sleep I got a sudden attack. I lost

consciousness, I couldn't breathe, I was suffocating. My husband Arek thought

it was a heart attack so he undertook CPR, which he conducted until I regained

my breathing and called the ambulance. After regaining consciousness, it

turned out that I was unable to speak and had lost my memory. To this day, I

don't remember anything from that night....

After a series of diagnostic tests, it turned out that I had a brain tumor (the size

of a ping-pong ball) located behind my right eye and a very large swelling of the

brain. I was sent for a life-saving surgery.

After the operation, it turned out that I got deep pyramidal paresis of the left

side of my body. I became a recumbent person, completely dependent on

others. I had serious temporary problems with my eyesight, and I was afraid

that I would lose it completely. I broke down completely. I was afraid that I

would never see the face of my beloved son and husband again. I could hear

what was going on around me, but I couldn't move or speak.

I was sent to the Hospital Ward in Ustron for rehabilitation. After 4 months I

am able to sit up on my own and take the first steps.

I am currently continuing rehabilitation at the Neurological Rehabilitation

Center in Katowice, Poland. It is very expensive and not reimbursed.

If I can't continue the necessary treatments with specialized equipment,

permanent muscle contracture will occur and I will lose my chance for

recovery.

That is why I am asking for help. Every zloty matters.
