Can you imagine what it feels like to move into your dream home, only to realize that your own apartment poses a deadly risk? That’s exactly what I experienced a year ago when I bought an apartment with a mortgage, originally intended to share with my girlfriend. However, after moving in, I lost my job due to staff reductions at work, my girlfriend left me, and I was left alone to bear the burden of the mortgage and maintaining the apartment.
From the very first days, it became clear that the apartment’s electrical system was in a life-threatening condition, something the previous owner had hidden. Aluminum and copper wires had been improperly connected, which almost caused a fire. Fortunately, no tragedy occurred, but E.ON immediately cut off the electricity because the network could have been deadly at any moment.
I lived completely without electricity for more than six months. I tried to manage the bare essentials with a solar generator: I could charge my phone and wash my clothes by hand, but lighting, the fridge, or any other electrical appliances were impossible to use. Every day was a struggle just to cover the most basic necessities.
After six months, I managed to partially reconnect the electricity, but only two circuit breakers and two outlets work, and they are not connected to the full house network. This means there is no lighting, most outlets have no power, and the majority of the apartment remains dark and unusable. Even this partial solution was a huge improvement because at least I could wash clothes and use the fridge, but a complete, safe electricity supply is still not secured.
Renovating the entire electrical system would cost around 2.5 million HUF, which I cannot afford on my own given my current financial situation. Most of my salary goes toward loans and utilities, and what remains barely covers basic living expenses—I am living month to month.
This whole period has been incredibly overwhelming for me. I had to manage the mortgage, bills, and daily life alone while living in a dangerous, partially powerless apartment where an accident could have happened at any moment.
If you can, please support my fundraiser so that the electrical network can be fully renovated and safely restored. Every small contribution is immensely valuable, and every donation brings me closer to having a safe, functional, and livable home, where I can finally feel at home in my own apartment again.
Thank you so much to everyone who supports this proje
