I'm helping a cat shelter in northern Portugal called o Cantinho do Tareco. This association rescues cats from the streets and provides them with necessary care, treatments, and surgeries. However, the building they're in needs repairs. There are holes in the walls, and when it rains, the shelter floods. They've asked for help with construction to renovate the shelter and ensure the animals' well-being, but donations are low. Most donations go directly to animal veterinary care, leaving no funds for shelter maintenance.

Located in a socially disadvantaged neighborhood, the shelter is run entirely by volunteers, and all expenses are covered by donations from our supporters. Recently, due to financial hardships faced by Portuguese families, donations have declined. Despite this, they continue to receive many animals needing help.

Cantinho do Tareco also has a room intended to serve as an infirmary or nursery for cats recovering from surgery or undergoing treatment. This room is their primary concern because volunteers want to ensure sick cats are in a warm, dry space with optimal conditions for recovery, reducing the risk of disease spread. The city council hasn't provided assistance, and each stainless steel recovery cage costs around €2,000. Their dream is to renovate the nursery with new cabinets for medication storage and new recovery cages.

They would need approximately €18,000 for this project. Some of the materials they need to purchase include:

I understand that this is a lot to ask but this would help the already beaufiful work of the shelter even better and would ensure the well-being of all these animals, our feline friends :)
