Education is not charity or Aid. It’s implementing a basic child’s right. 

My name is Dagmara and I run educational projects in the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania as part of the Uvi Foundation for Education. I work to support talented children and, together with my team, we are looking for sponsors for them so that they can go to better private schools. In a public school in Tanzania, there are 60 children in one class, in standard populated areas there are 100-150 children per teacher, for comparison, in a private school there are about 20 children in one class with a teacher.

At the beginning of September, the girls from Our World Explorers Club contacted us and donated 2,650 books as part of an educational support initiative for our kids. The books are a donation and all proceeds from their sale will go to the sponsorship program. Thanks to the funds obtained, more children will be able to study in private schools with a higher level of education.

Sponsorship program:

From 2021, our program gives children from public primary schools the opportunity to move to private schools with a higher level of education and better prospects for the future.

A year of a child's education at Usambara Pre & Primary School (grades I-VII) is €759 per year of education - tuition, accommodation, meals. The second level of school after passing the exam after the 7th grade (the next 6 years of secondary school) = €1,500 per year.

This year, thanks to the good hearts and support of our partners such as Martyna Wojciechowska's UNAWEZA Foundation, AKADEMEIA high school in Warsaw and WEMA Foundation from Zanzibar, we managed to send a total of 56 children to private schools!

However, the number of talented students increases every day! In 2024, we would like to give another 50 children a chance to learn at the highest level and have a real impact on economic and social changes in the Usambara Mountains region.
