I organize help for homeless kittens in Sardinia. The story is that a very young mother cat, aged 1 year and 2 months, gave birth for the second time in June, giving birth to quintuplets: four three-colored girls and one black boy. She delivered kittens in her mouth after a few weeks and since then I have been supporting them by feeding them and treating them when they are sick. So far, the kittens have suffered from cat fever twice, two of them, the weakest from the litter, almost crossed the rainbow bridge. But it worked, even though there is no culture of helping homeless cats in Italy, as we know it in Poland. The rule here is that since a cat was born wild, it has to live that way, at most you can put out a bowl for it. And this way, a huge number of cats are sick, infected, with half-blind eyes and live for a maximum of two years, unless they die earlier.

The mother cat chose us to help her and since the end of June 2023 we have been taking care of her and her quintuplets. Today, we have managed to find an adoptive family for all the beautiful tricolor kittens, no one in Italy wants a black kitten, they are superstitious. Currently, the mother cat, Crochetta, and the "raisin" from the litter - a black kitten named Vader - are left to take care of. (he got the name Vader during his first cat cold, when he was breathing so heavily that he reminded us of Lord Vader from Star Wars).

Since June, we have spent a lot of money from our own pocket on the treatment and feeding of the kittens, converting PLN into Euro.

To support the cats and ensure their well-being and health, it is necessary to vaccinate the mother cat and Vader, the kitten and organize Vader's castration + deworming and Vadre's eye therapy.

The costs of vet visits, treatments and medications are approximately EUR 350 in total, including the following expenses:

visit with vaccination - 125-150 Euro;

castration procedure with a visit to the vet and stay for 1 day - 200 Euro;

antibiotic after castration - approx. 30 Euro-50 Euro;

examination procedure, eye drops and finally deworming for 2 cats - 50 Euro

I know that there are important things in the world. But I also believe that if these little creatures found us and trusted that we could help them, I try to do everything possible to make them have a better fate, to be resistant to diseases and to be able to function healthily for as long as possible.

Every bit of help is worth its weight in gold.

For example - 1.5 kg kitten food costs about 6 Euro and was enough for 6 kittens (five kittens and mother) for about 2 weeks + wet food. 1 can of cat food costs approximately 0.6 - 0.70 Euro. Antibiotic for a kitten, e.g. Synolux = 24.90 Euro, Milbemax for deworming (2 tablets) = 26.20 Euro. Eye drops for cats cost approximately 15 Euro.

Update on 13th October 2023:

We went to the vet on Friday. The mother cat had a blood test and was vaccinated against feline leukemia. A small kitten - received a vaccine for small cats. We have another appointment scheduled in November to examine Vader and do the second batch of vaccinations. We have to wait until Vaderek is 6 months old for the castration procedure. Then another vaccination and then sterilization will be necessary.

For the first visit I paid on Friday 125 Euro + e-prescription for cat eye drops. <3
