A Husband, a Father, and a Man Trying to Start Over

My name is Cosmin, I am a husband, a father, and a man who has always believed in hard work and perseverance.

But sometimes, even the strongest will is not enough to win against life’s circumstances.

In 2024, after selling a small property on the outskirts of my town, a property I had bought through a bank loan, I was left with €20,000.

I had two options:

• repay the bank and stay with nothing,
• or try to build something for my family’s future.

We chose to try.

After two months of planning, we opened a small mini-pancake and ice cream shop. It was summer, and on June 15, we celebrated our grand opening full of hope and dreams.

Sadly, already from the second day, we realized that the products were too different for local tastes.

Not because they weren’t good, but because people here weren’t used to trying something new.

Even though we put our hearts into it, we had very few customers, and by August 31, after investing everything, the €20,000 and a small refinancing loan, we were forced to declare bankruptcy.

We sold everything: the car, our equipment, personal belongings, just to pay taxes and suppliers and close the business legally.

Still, bureaucracy delayed everything for months, adding more costs.

Now, more than a year later, I find myself paying a monthly loan higher than the average Romanian salary, even though I no longer have the property nor the shop that caused this debt.

Both my wife and I now work two jobs each, just to survive and keep a roof over our son’s head.

I know I made mistakes. I believed in a dream that failed, but I am not ashamed of having tried.

Now I just need help to start from zero again, to pay off our debts and rebuild our lives.

The total amount needed is €32,952, the exact sum of our debts.
