Request for Support for the Humanitarian Project "India 2024"

We are reaching out to request your donation for the upcoming humanitarian project "India 2024," which will be undertaken by students affiliated with the University Parish of Maribor. The expedition will take place from July 20 to August 7, 2024, where we, as a group of eight individuals, will embark on a missionary-medical mission to India.

We will first stop in Kolkata for a few days, where we will visit the Mother Teresa Center and the Khalighat hospice (home for the dying) founded by Saint Mother Teresa, which is still operated today by the Missionaries of Charity. We will also visit Mojca Gayen, a Slovenian who runs a school for poor children in Kolkata with her husband.

Then, we will travel to the northeastern part of India, to the state of Meghalaya, in the city of Shillong, where we will be hosted by the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians. We will work as volunteers at the missions of the sisters in Nazareth Hospital, local rural clinics, and school centers. The missions in Meghalaya have strong connections with Slovenian missionary Father Pavle Bernik, a Salesian, originally from Puštal near Škofja Loka.

Our mission's goal is not only to provide direct aid to those in need but also to gain valuable experience that will deepen our understanding and appreciation of global humanitarian needs, and to bring these experiences back to Slovenia.

How you can help: For the successful execution of our mission, we need your support. The funds we collect will go directly towards covering the costs of the expedition and the needs of the mission, including medical supplies. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will be greatly valued.
