TEKSTS LATVIEŠU VALODĀ ZEMĀK :)

After receiving 4 rejections from the Latvian Culture Fund, and a rejection from the Baltic Pitching Forum with no ability to reapply with the same project, I decided not to give up on my diploma work and find support using crowdfunding.

This is a 24-minute-long short film that explores the themes of wrath, revenge, betrayal, perseverance, and union in marriage. The film will be filmed in Latvian language with English subtitles.

"Having survived a broken heart, Agne, the daughter of a dead leader, arrives in Ventava in search of the ghost of her husband, who went on a journey to the North, but in reality stole the village's silver to marry another, orchestrated his own death and ended Agne's bloodline with his actions." This is WRATH.

Set in Latvia during the early medieval ages, this project is supported by local historians and medieval reenactment groups, one of which is EXERCITUS RIGENSIS. This film gives a lot of attention to historical detail, accuracy in costumes, armor, and sword fighting, as well as culture, tradition, and spirituality.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

I am studying bachelors in RISEBA, Audiovisual Media and Arts, Film Production. For my diploma I chose this story because I have a background in medieval reenactments, sword fighting, archery, horseback riding, archaeology, I have also worked on local film and commercial projects as a stuntwoman and actress. In the past I have received an award for my feature documentary which is currently in post production about the search for WWI and WWII soldiers on the territory of Latvia. I have made a short film and a music video during my studies (links attached). And now it is my time to write and direct my own story using the skills that I have acquired over the decades.

I will work with a mixed team of professionals and fellow students to complete this short film which is intended to be submitted to international short film festivals. The filming will take place in the first part of October to give the film a more cinematic look with autumn-colored trees, which will go nicely in contrast with the fog, the grey and the blue. The language of the film will resemble a Western and the dialogue is edited to feel like it belongs in that time. Altogether, this will be a dark story that will question the morality of the characters.

SYNOPSYS

"One morning, a mysterious warrior on horseback arrives in a peaceful village, seeking revenge at Viestur's house. The warrior is revealed to be Agne, the woman Viestur betrayed to acquire the village silver and marry another leader's daughter. This betrayal not only destroyed Agne's bloodline but also the life of her unborn child. Emerging from the ashes of the village, Agne spends three days and three nights preparing for her final battle with Viesturs to exact her long-awaited revenge."

Šī stāsta darbība norisinās Latvijā agrīno viduslaiku laikā, un to atbalsta vietējie vēsturnieki un viduslaiku rekonstrukcijas grupas, no kurām viena ir EXERCITUS RIGENSIS. Šajā filmā liela uzmanība pievērsta vēsturiskajām detaļām, tērpu, bruņu un zobenu cīņu precizitātei, kā arī kultūrai, tradīcijām un ticībai. 

PAR REŽISORU

Es studēju RISEBA bakalaura programmā, Audiovizuālie mediji un māksla, filmu producēšana. Savam diplomam izvēlējos šo stāstu, jo man ir pieredze viduslaiku rekonstrukcijās, zobenu cīņās, loka šaušanā, jāšanā, arheoloģijā, esmu strādājusi arī vietējos kino un reklāmas projektos kā kaskadiere un aktrise. Iepriekš esmu saņēmusi balvu par pilnmetrāžas dokumentālo filmu, kas pašlaik ir montāžā par Pirmā un Otrā pasaules kara karavīru meklēšanu Latvijas teritorijā. Studiju laikā esmu uzņēmusi īsfilmu un mūzikas videoklipu (saites pievienotas). Un tagad ir pienācis mans laiks uzrakstīt un režisēt savu stāstu, izmantojot gadu desmitos iegūtās prasmes.

Es strādāšu ar jauktu profesionāļu un studentu kolēģu komandu, lai pabeigtu šo īsfilmu, kuru paredzēts iesniegt starptautiskiem īsfilmu festivāliem. Filmēšana notiks oktobra pirmajā pusē, lai piešķirtu filmai kinematogrāfiskāku izskatu ar rudenīgi iekrāsotiem kokiem, kas labi kontrastēs ar miglu, pelēkumu un zilumu. Filmas valoda atgādinās vesternu, un dialogi ir izstrādāti tā, lai justos, ka tie pieder šim laikam. Kopumā tas būs tumšs stāsts, kas apšaubīs varoņu morāli.

SINOPSE

"Kādu rītu mierīgā ciemā ierodas noslēpumains karavīrs zirga mugurā, meklējot savu atriebību pie Viestura mājas. Izrādās, ka šis karavīrs nav cits kā sieviete, kuru Viesturs izmantoja, lai iegūtu ciema sudrabu un apprecētu citu vadoņa meitu. Ar šo darbību Viesturs ne tikai izpostīja pirmās sievas, Agnes, dzimtu, bet arī sava nedzimušā bērna dzīvi. Kad Agne iznāk no ciema pelniem, viņa velta trīs dienas un trīs naktis, gaidot cīņu ar Viesturu, lai saņemtu savu atriebību."
