This is Giuliano in the photo, or Gugu as his friends call him.

Love brought Gugu to Budapest from the heel of Italy; he found his soulmate, Szilvi, but he also fell in love with Hungary, so he stayed here. Gugu is a wonderfully talented musician; his favourite instrument is the guitar, and when he’s not playing music, he works in the tech sector. Gugu really loves people and tries to help everyone; he’ll even help an old lady cross the road, even if she’s actually just waiting for a taxi by the side of the road. Gugu loves cooking; his favourite dish is potato pasta, as it combines his two favourite things: potatoes and pasta. Every day, his friends learn something from him about why life is worth living and how to live joyfully. He and Szilvi are getting married soon.

Unfortunately, however, Gugu suddenly fell ill in September and it turned out that he was suffering from a condition called glioblastoma, which is an extremely aggressive brain tumour. He underwent surgery and is currently undergoing treatment. However, glioblastoma cells divide extremely rapidly, so the disease often recurs, even if the surgery was successful. Because of this, the average survival time for the disease is 3–4 months without oncological treatment, and 10–15 months with conventional treatment (radiotherapy, chemotherapy).

Unless we join forces and work together to ensure that Giuliano can also receive the special German vaccine, which uses a so-called neoantigen-specific T-cell response to ‘awaken’ the patient’s immune system so that it can take up the fight against the cancer cells. This means that a personalised medicine or vaccine, specifically tailored to the patient’s own genetic profile, is produced with the same rigour and under the same manufacturing conditions as a commonly used medicine. The results of this treatment are very encouraging; there are patients who can already boast survival rates of 5, or even 8 years, thanks to the treatment!

The cost of producing the vaccine is €90,000; unfortunately, this is not covered by the Hungarian National Health Service. The serum is prepared in Germany, whilst the injection itself is administered in Vilnius. Giuliano will need to travel there for a year and a half for the treatment, which also involves significant costs.

Please help with a donation so that Gugu can live with his partner for many years to come, and continue to bring light into so many people’s lives with his music, personality and humour!

Thank you!

This is Giuliano, or Giugiu as his friends call him.

Love brought Giugiu to Budapest from the deep south of Italy, where he found his soulmate, Szilvi, but he also fell in love with Hungary, so he decided to stay. Giugiu is a very talented musician; his favourite instrument is the guitar and, when he isn’t playing, he works in the tech sector. Giugiu loves people and tries to help everyone, even an elderly lady who was actually just waiting for a taxi at the side of the road. Giugiu loves cooking and his favourite dish is pasta with potatoes, because it contains his two favourite ingredients: potatoes and pasta. Every day, his friends learn something from him about how wonderful life is and how to live joyfully. He and Szilvi are getting married soon.

Unfortunately, Giugiu has not been feeling well for some time and has been diagnosed with glioblastoma, an extremely aggressive brain tumour. He has had surgery and is currently undergoing treatment. However, glioblastoma cells divide very rapidly, so the disease often recurs, even if the surgery is successful. For this reason, the average survival time without cancer treatment is 3–4 months, whilst with conventional treatment (radiotherapy, chemotherapy) it is 10–15 months.

Unless we join forces and work together to ensure Giuliano has access to a special German vaccine, which uses a T-cell response specific to neoantigens to ‘awaken’ the patient’s immune system and fight the cancer cells. This means that a personalised drug or vaccine would be produced for the patient, specifically tailored to their genetic profile, with the same precision and under the same manufacturing conditions as a commonly used drug. The results of this treatment are very encouraging, with some patients achieving survival rates of 5 or even 8 years thanks to this therapy!

The cost of producing the vaccine is €90,000, which unfortunately is not covered by the Hungarian healthcare system. Once the serum is ready, treatment will begin in Vilnius.

Please help us with a donation so that Giugiu can live a long life with his beloved and bring light into the lives of so many people with his music, his personality and his humour!
