Description
The Middle Way: a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern science.
A collective project to translate Venerable Sonam Wangchuk’s book and make his teachings accessible and free of charge.
We have a real opportunity to give back to Venerable Sonam what he has given us: to translate his work.
Twenty years of teachings that weave together Madhyamaka, quantum physics, Tantra and neuroscience – recognised by the Dalai Lama – exist only in Tibetan.
With €12,000, we can make them accessible in English to practitioners and researchers worldwide.
This is our chance to turn gratitude into action.
The book
Buddhist and Non-Buddhist Views and Practices: Madhyamaka, Tantra, and Science
Buddhist and Non-Buddhist Views and Practices: The Middle Way, Tantra and Science (title to be confirmed)
This book is the fruit of years of research across the six Tibetan Buddhist traditions, Vedic philosophical systems and modern science. Ven. Sonam has engaged with all these traditions, consulted with dozens of Western scientists, and had the courage to ask difficult questions. The result is a work that weaves together Madhyamaka and quantum physics, meditation and neuroscience, Sutra and Tantra, ancient wisdom and contemporary research.
A special acknowledgement: His Holiness the Dalai Lama, after receiving the first volume, recognised its value and urged Ven. Sonam to continue his work.
The translation we are supporting brings the essential chapters of the two volumes into English — a bridge between contemplation and analysis, between East and West. An invitation to seek the truth, beyond affiliations.
Why translate it
Translating this text into English means enabling researchers, practitioners, universities and Dharma centres around the world to access Ven. Sonam’s teachings.
Beyond being a linguistic translation, it is an act of continuity that allows a twenty-year body of work to continue to live and transform.
The objective
The project requires €12,000 to cover a year’s work by a translator with expertise in the Tibetan language, Buddhist philosophy and physics.
Every contribution, however small, is part of this bridge. It is a tangible way to participate in the dissemination of knowledge and the preservation of Tibetan wisdom.
How to contribute
Donating is simple and secure: you can contribute via Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, Gpay, iDeal, Bancontact, Sofort, Skrill and other payment methods.
Contributors will receive:
• updates on the translation process
• previews of the text
• a digital copy of the book once it is complete
A gesture of gratitude
Anyone who has met Venerable Sonam knows that his presence leaves a deep impression. With simplicity and care, he knows how to guide the mind into silence and the heart into understanding. Many of us have received his teachings during retreats, through his words, his gestures, or simply through the space he creates.
This project stems from gratitude for what he has given us, for his presence and for the opportunity to keep his voice alive even beyond the time and place of the retreats.
Every contribution, every sharing is part of this silent network that unites mind and heart.
Thank you for being part of this bridge.
