Hi my fellow dog rescuers, adopters and lovers!
We are reaching out to our compassionate community in a time of need. We're a family of 5 – a single mother and her three beloved rescue dogs – living in Portugal. Our newest addition, Rex, came into our lives unexpectedly. He was abandoned, left to fend for himself in the harsh streets of Portugal.
Despite our efforts to find Rex a new home, the reality of the situation here is heartbreaking. The sheer number of forgotten dogs in kennels and roaming the streets makes it nearly impossible to find every dog a loving forever home. However, Rex found a place in our hearts, and we couldn't bear to let him go.
Rex has quickly become a cherished member of our family. His playful personality and unwavering loyalty have brought immeasurable joy into our lives. However, we're faced with a dilemma that we desperately need your help with.
This summer, we must travel back to Canada as my sister is having her first baby! It's an important family event that we can't miss. But it is impossible for us to take Rex as the airline we are with will not allow pets in cargo, leaving Rex behind poses a significant stress for all of us. We need to ensure he receives the care and attention he deserves while we're away.
We've explored various options, we have found a loving temporary care home for Rex during the summer. This includes feeding him, giving him the love and attention he craves, and ensuring his safety and well-being.
Unfortunately, arranging this care comes with financial implications that we hadn't anticipated. Between travel expenses and the cost of Rex's care, and my son being ill and currently under pediatric care (which creates another major implication to our finances) our budget simply can't stretch far enough to cover everything.
That's why we're turning to you, our supportive community, for help. Your generosity can make all the difference in ensuring Rex receives the care he needs while we're away.
