MARCH 2026
For over two years afterwards, we had almost forgotten what had happened. The glioma detected in my wife’s head was removed at the time, and prompt radiotherapy and chemotherapy gave us hope for a gradual recovery. Subsequent MRI scans revealed nothing. The side effects of the illness were treated month by month. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy caused permanent damage to her teeth. As a result, my wife had to undergo a procedure to have all her teeth removed and replaced with dentures. A very painful and costly phase in her life. She was also due to undergo surgery on her legs and spine, which were the cause of constant pain. Unfortunately, the recurrence of the glioma changed all that. Unexpectedly, the latest MRI scan dashed my wife’s hopes of a normal life without pain. Despite all this, she underwent another operation to remove the glioma, hoping for a chance at a life free from further relapses and a return to normal life for her children. Unfortunately, doctors only treat the symptoms of the disease; they say nothing about its causes. Scientifically, it has already been documented where and why this disease arises. But it is up to us to ensure that, despite the challenges of our lives, we look after our health and fight the effects of the diseases we must face. We cannot achieve much on our own, but together we can achieve a great deal. Every such battle with illness is very costly and places a heavy burden on every household budget. It is not just the cost of medicines, but also caring for loved ones and the patient themselves, which is very demanding in order to ensure they lead a peaceful, healthy life. All of this is linked to stress, which, in excessive amounts, is very harmful to someone struggling with a long-term illness. Every visit and journey from one specialist to another (radiotherapy, chemotherapy, neurology, MRI, etc.) is also costly if they are regular, meaning constant consultation is required to keep the glioma under control at all times. To sum up, one might think: what’s the point of all this if doctors don’t give an optimistic prognosis for living with a grade four glioma? I’ll just say this: it’s worth fighting and not giving up in this battle. Because as long as there is hope and faith, it’s worth fighting for every day, month or year of life – not just for oneself, but also for one’s children and loved ones. For all those who are close to us and give us strength. But also for those who may one day find themselves in a similar situation, battling some illness, so that they do not give up. May the story of Ewelina, but also of others who have struggled with a serious illness and managed to survive far longer than the doctors predicted, serve as an inspiration to fight. That is why I am repeating our request to anyone who would like to support us now: please provide whatever financial help you can, however small, or share and send information about this fundraiser to your loved ones or friends. If not us, then perhaps others will be able and willing to support my wife Ewelina in her battle against the illness she has been fighting for over two years now, even though the oncologist has said she should enjoy every day of her life, as she may have only six months left to live.

NOVEMBER 2024
A letter from Ewelina: It has been almost a year since I was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
I’ve had it removed and I’ve just found out that the histopathological examination has confirmed a grade 4 glioblastoma.
My oncologist says I don’t have much time left and that I should cherish every day I have left.
Half of patients do not survive a year after surgery, so I am already in the other half.
There are also people who have survived a little longer – up to five years after surgery – but they make up only 5% of cases.
There is also one person who has survived for over 18 years – Carmen Rice, who has described her story in a book.
So as long as there is hope, I will keep fighting, because I have people to live for. I have four children and a husband who supports me very much.
I also have many friends and acquaintances who support me as much as they can.
That is why I am asking each of you who can still help me in my battle against this illness to support me now, for every day, month and year of my life; I will be very grateful for it.
Perhaps one day my story will give hope to another woman or mum, encouraging them never to give up! Even if the doctors’ prognosis isn’t optimistic.
I now face a very difficult and costly task to ensure the glioma does not recur or metastasise; I must undergo rehabilitation and follow a suitable diet.
I really hope that together we can overcome this illness, which I have been battling for almost a year now.
Thanks to all of you who support me, I still have the strength to do this.
Warm regards, Ewelina Pizon.

Hello, help is needed for a family, specifically Ewelina, during the most difficult time of her life.
Ewelina Pizon is a lovely girl, she is 38 years old and lives in 2450 Meerhout, Belgium, and has an unwanted companion in her head who refuses to leave her – it’s called a glioma.
She has never lived in luxury, but she didn’t need it, because she has a wonderful family by her side. Until now, she has been a mum working flat out, holding down a full-time job, with four children, two of whom require special care.
Despite difficult circumstances at home, when the war broke out, she opened her home to several families from Ukraine. Her heart is huge, but now that heart is crying out for help.
She has people to live for and wants to fight with all her might, but her finances won’t allow it, as the costs of treatment are huge and she lacks the means for basic living expenses.
They rely solely on family support, and her husband is on care leave as he drives Ewelina to chemotherapy and tests, from one doctor to another.
Their money is so little that it isn’t enough for anything – fuel, medicines and healthy food (mostly vegetables for smoothies) for Ewelina.
Ewelina will repay the kindness by baking delicious cakes; as soon as she recovers, she will certainly invite us for coffee and cake.
Let’s help her and her family enjoy happiness and life, which is so very important.
