Description

I used to think of giving as when we are young we need support, as adults we support ourselves, and as we mature and reach maturity, maybe others will have what we have.

But fortunately I have learned how silly that is.

I am Dora. As a biologist, I am a lab manager at a medical diagnostics device company in Munich, Germany, which is integrated into one of the world's largest printer manufacturers. Being an international company, I have colleagues of many different nationalities. Some are refugees from war in Ukraine and others from Iceland, one of the safest islands in the world. They all have a reason to give. Some know what it is to go without, others have been taught charity from a young age thanks to their country's strong economy.

They taught me how it feels to give.

One year, just before Christmas, some of my colleagues and I went out to distribute food to people in need. I thought helping out, giving a little would be good. But I didn't expect how much I would get. What I saw there, people who were strangers to each other felt closer, depressed faces brightened and a channel opened up between people who would never have spoken to each other in other circumstances. A strange happiness settled in the place. It was magical. What had happened there could not be forgotten. It was fateful. For me certainly and who knows how many other people present.

After we finished and I headed home, I felt a painful emptiness and wished it wasn't late evening and the food distribution was taking even longer.

So I decided I didn't want to do anything else. I want to help others everywhere. However, I cannot and will not choose who gets help. There is too much deprivation and too much economic inequality in the world.

Since I have never been able to think small, I decided to become a pilot who delivers aid to where it is needed.

I want to do something for the world, to make it a little better place, to be a little more loving, to be a channel for the love that flows in the world, of which there can never be enough.

My goal is to create a foundation that will deliver aid packages by cargo plane to anywhere in the world.

To do this, I need to get a pilot's license. To transport the packages, I will need a multi-engine plane. The pilot's licence will cost about 4 million HUF (10.000€) and will take 1,5-2 years to obtain. The coursework is serious, so I have reduced my hours, which means a reduction in my salary and a depletion of my reserves. For this reason I need support. My existing reserve will cover my expenses for 2 years at half-time.

I would like to be able to get a subsidy for the pilot training fee.

My dream is that after the Red Cross, the world will know another symbol that will always be there to help. The symbol of the foundation will be the white butterfly, because of the butterfly effect. One small good intention can have a huge impact on the lives of others halfway around the world. The butterfly fluttered its wings at a food distribution in Munich and who knows how far its impact will reach...

Thank you so much for all your help and I wish you the same happiness I had at the food distribution. I wish that one day I could be of help to you.
