🌾 An authentic Slovak mountain hut with a mini-zoo: We’re kicking off our search for land and farmers!

Slovak and Czech cuisine isn’t just about food – it’s about our roots, family and traditions. However, the catering sector in Slovakia has been going through an extremely difficult period since the pandemic began. The market has been flooded with cheap semi-prepared foods from abroad, traditional businesses are going bust, and genuine craftsmanship is disappearing.

We’ve decided to change that and bring real quality back to the table. We want to build a modern yet traditional, authentic Salaš that will celebrate our culture whilst also serving as a powerful driver for the local economy.

🥩 Our vision: 100% Slovak ingredients and a mini-zoo

Our philosophy is uncompromising: purely local ingredients. At our future salaš, you won’t find vegetables from the other side of the world or anonymous meat from factory farms. With every meal, we’ll be supporting local distributors and farmers. The site will also feature a traditional mini-zoo with our native fauna (sheep, goats), providing a full-day experience for families with children.

🚗 Phase One: We need to get things moving (Target: €7,500)

Building a project like this from scratch requires a huge effort and meticulous preparation. We can’t just buy the first plot of land we see online, and we can’t buy raw materials from off-the-shelf suppliers. We have to go straight out into the field.

To turn this dream into reality, we are launching the first phase of our fundraising campaign with an achievable target of €7,500. We will invest these funds in transport and regulatory compliance:

• 80% (approx. €6,000) – Purchase of a used utility/off-road vehicle: The vehicle is crucial for us. We will use it to travel around Slovakia’s regions in person, searching for hidden and ideal plots of land in the countryside and visiting small farmers with whom we will establish partnerships. Later, this vehicle will be used to deliver fresh produce directly to our mountain hut.
• 20% (approx. €15,000) – Legal and structural assessment of plots: Before purchase, every identified plot must be verified by an architect and a lawyer (availability of utilities, catering licences and approval of enclosures for the mini-zoo).
