Beskrivelse
In 2020, Dio wandered sick and exhausted into the home of one of the volunteers of the Finger Lakes Shelter, from which he was adopted by me. Later examinations revealed the presence of shavings in his ribs, making it clear that Dio had not had an easy life during his wandering. What exactly happened? Why did he end up on the street? That's something we'll probably never know again.
In November 2020, Dio was adopted by me, the first weeks after adoption were accompanied by constant tail wagging and jumping for strokes and treats. Everything was going in the right direction.
In 2021, the first signs of health deterioration appeared - Dio was no longer jumping for treats, even though they are his whole world to this day. For the sake of our companion's health, we moved to a new apartment, where he had access to his own World Changer (elevator), which was clearly a relief for him, as he no longer had to climb stairs. The following months showed that the problem was more serious than the stairs themselves, and investigations began, which, at the end of the day, showed unequivocally that Dio needed a Laminectomy, along with the placement of an implant that would provide relief from the increasingly worse condition my friend was in.
At the end of 2022, Dio underwent a very invasive surgery - an L7-S1 laminectomy with the insertion of a Medgal stabilizer, after which he recovered through rehabilitation for the next six months, allowing him to enjoy walks, sleep in bed with his other furry companions and his favorite rolling in the grass for much of that year. More than $1500 has already been raised for his previous treatment, making it much easier to pay for his first treatment, which totaled nearly $3500!
Unfortunately, a second abnormality (Central herniation of the nucleus pulposus of the Th13-L1 intervertebral space) was also detected during the preoperative examination, which at the time was not a problem due to its small size, but now it is suspected that this lesion has worsened so much that because of it Dio is again unable to walk on his own paws on walks, making him look like Hannibal Lecter on the catwalk in his kaftan.
We are raising money for a spinal MRI, then for the surgery itself and related costs (blood tests, transports, post-operative rehabilitation).
During the treatment, all receipts will be provided so that you can be sure that your contributions are going to the purpose you donated it for! :)
On behalf of myself and Dio, I would like to thank in advance all those who have contributed to improve Dio's life, whether materially or with a good word alone.
