It's a Daewoo Tico. 800 cc, three cylinders, roughly the size of a shopping cart. It has been in my family for 20 years, and I got it from my grandfather.

Long before I could reach the pedals, I sat in the back seat of this car while my grandparents picked me up from elementary school. Years later it became the first car I ever drove. The first time I took my grandparents somewhere, instead of them taking me, it was in this Tico, with a licence that was about two days old. I drove it for 5 years after that, through everything a young driver puts a car through, until I could afford one of my own.

Now it needs help. The bodywork has rust that has to be cut out and replaced, the paint is gone, and the mechanicals need a full going-over if it's ever going to be road-legal and reliable again. Some people even stole the licence plate... A proper restoration comes to roughly 5.500 EUR.

I'll be honest about what this is. A restored Tico is worth a fraction of what the restoration costs. No collector is waiting for this car. It will never be an investment, I will never make money off of it. In truth, I should have scrapped the car long ago, instead, I paid parking tickets, garages, moved it from place to place. But I can't bring myself to scrap it.

Any amount helps. I'll post photos and updates at every stage, from the first panel cut to the day it starts on the first turn of the key.
