This is a story of a family and it starts in 1880 when the first Italian stonecutters came to Romania to work the granite stone of Macin Mountains ( the oldest mountains in Romania). One of them was my great grand grandfather, who gave his talents and hard work to the coming generations. My grandfather, Giovanni Del Pupo embodied all of the authentic features of a good Italian stonecutter. But my nonu took who took his passion beyond work and transformed it into art. He built with his own hands taming the granite and the marble transforming them into iconic church altars, fountains, or monuments. Today his legacy can still be seen all over the region of Dobrogea, but most of his work remains undisplayed because of a lack of proper conditions to expose it. The house where Giovanni Del Pupo my nonu, used to live is now falling apart and needs an urgent restoration.

The last remaining person in that house was my grandmother who passed away last year.

Today my wish is to not let that place fall apart and transform my grandparents' house into a place of art, beauty, and tranquility. Based on the foothills of the Macin Mountains in a small village close to the Danube Delta, my grandparents's house stands full of history and stories ready to be shared.
