My name is Renáta Pintérová and I am a contemporary visual artist. I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Slovakia in the studio of Intermedia. I am working with various media and the most frequent output of my works is object installations or video art. In my works, I am dealing with feminist, post-colonial, ecological, and ritual topics through which I explore animistic and fiction art.
I started to work on my project Sundog And The Zero Point four years ago when I created a drawing of the ritual costume called the Sundog. I imagined the character of the Sundog hyperrealistically, so I decided to make it in a 3D.It started as a video art for the gallery space, but then I also further developed the storyboards for a short animated movie.
What is the Movie About?
The Zero Point is a place in between. It is a place where the Sun and the Moon meet. Sundog is the main character of the movie. He is a cosmic alien. He was born on the North Pole, but he had to move to Zero Point, because of global warming and the melting of the North Pole.
Sundog is a living character of the ritual costume. He has different ritual masks and ritual objects which are enchanted. He can move and transport his body between different worlds. He has a friend Frozy who is a daisy flower made of antistress material with a smiley face. In the Zero Point, there is an Island with a big magnolia tree. It has flowers with a red mouth which will sing the song Burn by Elie Goulding in a retro style. Sundog will live in this tree. He likes to read New York Times and likes to eat chocolate and popcorn. In the North, there is a mountain with magic eggs. In the East, there is a violet lake with glitters in it and with a golden fish. In the South, there is a Daisy land with a lot of daisy flowers made of antistress material and there are also flying violet butterflies around. In the West, there is a desert with mountains, and there are living two plastic skeletons of white and black cats. The black and white butterflies are flying around them. These are the places where the story of Sundog will take place.
My campaign is very important for me because I am dealing in it with contemporary ecological topics through fantasy and fiction storytelling. The funds will help me to further develop my animated movie and the preproduction process.
What We Need
We need to collect around 100,000 euros, because the hyperrealistic 3D animation process is very expensive. Now the project is in the process of realization. We already have some storyboards for the movie narrative and the 3D visualizations of the main character. From the funds we would like to model the environments in which the story will take place. Further we would like to create the secondary characters of the movie and the props. We need to also develop the narrative of the story and the storyboards. Also we would like to start to animate some scenes from the storyboards we have and we would like to make a trailer for the movie.
Impact
We are dealing in the movie with global and ecological topics through magic and pop culture. We would like to create a very special and authentic 3D animated movie.
Risks & Challenges
We are dealing firstly with an animated movie. So we will learn a lot from the professionals with whom we will work together on the movie.
