Hello, everyone!
My name is Blanka, and at 35 years old, I embark on a courageous journey to climb Mont Blanc, the majestic peak that symbolizes strength, resilience, and triumph.
I'm reaching out to you, not only as a fellow adventurer but as someone who has faced significant challenges in life.
In age of 31 after a difficult divorce and relationship that took a toll on my mental health I had to rebuild my life from scratch. Battling depression, panic attacks, and low self-esteem, I've been on a relentless quest to improve my well-being and embrace new challenges. Two years ago, I made a life-changing decision to move to the Netherlands, where I found a fulfilling job that empowers me to pursue my dreams about traveling and experiencing the wonders of nature.
Finally, I feel that my life is heading in the right direction!
I have been passioned about mountaineering literature and climbing for years and I found solace in the mountains! I found there tranquility and many good friends which helps me in difficult moments.
I enjoy challenges, and I believe that everything is achievable if we do our best. However, despite the effort I could make, I realize that time is not always on my side due to health issues, injuries and simply aging, and I can't delay some of the plans any longer. After much contemplation, I resolved to summit Mont Blanc in September 2024!
Decided! I'm doing it! Expedition is booked and acquired most of the necessary gear!
Unfortunately, before I started thorough preparations, my health took a hit in October 2023 when I was diagnosed with mononucleosis, which was compounded by thyroid issues and Hashimoto's, conditions I've been managing for over a decade. Lowered immunity causes me to catch infection after infection, which is quite demotivating. Part of the funds I allocated for the trip was consumed by medications, doctor's appointments, and tests.
But I'm not giving up! Despite the illness persisting, at the beginning of January, I went to the Tatra Mountains to undergo avalanche training and learn how to navigate in the mountains during winter. I was the slowest participant in the expedition due to exhausting cough and difficult breathing, but I didn't give up and reached the summit of Kresanica at 2122 m!
A moment later, I experienced a midfoot tendon injury during one of the training sessions. Another burden on the budget.
The funds are shrinking, leaving me with a significant gap.
Amidst so many obstacles, the thought of giving up crossed my mind. However, achieving this goal means a lot to me, and I don't want to surrender!
To prepare adequately, I need to invest in rehabilitation, including expenses for accessing gym, climbing walls, swimming pools, preparatory excursions, collecting missing mountaineering equipment and covering the trip expenses.
Now, I'm reaching out to you, the supportive community, to help me make my dream a reality. Your contributions will not only assist in covering the remaining expedition costs but also enable me to focus on regaining my health and strength. Every donation brings me one step closer to conquering Mont Blanc and, more importantly, overcoming the personal mountains I face every day.
I would be delighted to share updates with you about both the preparations and the progress of the expedition here and on my Instagram profile.
Join me on this expedition, not just as a supporter, but as a partner in the quest for mental health and triumph over adversity. Your generosity will be a beacon of hope, propelling me towards the summit and inspiring others facing their own uphill battles.
Thank you for being a vital part of my journey. Together, we can conquer any peak!
