Hello
My name is Grzegorz Gąska, I am a social researcher on topics covering the scope of events related to World War I.
I decided to organize and disseminate knowledge in an organized way, mainly regarding burials (cemeteries and individual graves) scattered throughout Poland.
The places I decided to visit are completely forgotten today. Fade away in memory and landscape. I decided to restore them to human memory... and to European and world history
The scope of my work includes archival research, field interviews, burial inventories, cooperation with research institutions and the community interested in the subject of the project.
My greatest achievement so far is finding a war cemetery in the Bieszczady town of Zubeńsko and conducting verification research. After the research, I commemorated the soldiers of both fighting armies buried there with a symbolic birch cross with an information board (currently, actions are underway to reconstruct the necropolis in accordance with Arthur Gruenberger's original design).
In 2022, my actions were appreciated by the Minister of Defense of Hungary.
However, my greatest achievement is that I have the pleasure and honor of working with many great enthusiasts of the subject and obtaining more and more particularly important data from the inhabitants of the researched areas and the families of fallen soldiers - the trust these wonderful people have in me is the greatest value for me.
My goal is to collect all data on the subject and present it in an easy and accessible way. To this end, I am in the process of developing four applications. Each is intended for a specific group of recipients, from specialists, guardians of memorial sites to tourists visiting trails related to the topic of World War I.
I would like to make the data obtained using specialized applications (databases, sources) available to all interested parties.
Unfortunately, this is the "prose of life": costs of maintaining the application, fuel (field trips related to data verification and measurements), Internet fees (during field research, especially in the Bieszczady Mountains, I use the only option available there - satellite Internet), access to paid archives and many other costs that I had been dealing with so far - have become a serious limitation.
That is why I am asking for financial support for my projects, which are of a community nature and I would like them to continue to be so. Passion, as we know ;) costs, and my dream is that what I do will contribute to restoring the memory of the fallen of all fighting armies and commemorating them with dignity.
Thank you for any support, even the smallest
