Hello I'm Dr. Charalampos Alamanos, MD.,

I'm a greek freshly graduated doctor that has a great passion for general surgery.

I created this fundraising campaign in relation to my attendance at International Surgical Week 2024 i.e. the World Congress of Surgery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as part of the Future Surgeon’s Delegation of the International Association of Student Surgical Societies (IASSS).

The IASSS is a student- and junior doctor-centred surgical society that aims to unite the world’s existing student surgical interest groups, facilitate the creation of new ones, and ensure every aspiring surgeon around the world can connect with like-minded individuals both locally and internationally.

For ten years,the IASSS has, and continues to, provide equitable access to surgical education content and resources to medical students and junior doctors, globally. Through the progressive volunteer efforts of our team since the society's inception in 2014, has increased IASSS community to 5000 members across 122 countries.

International Surgical Week (ISW), or the World Congress of Surgery, is hosted by the International Society of Surgery (ISS-SIC), the oldest surgical society in the world. The congress occurs every second year and is in its 50th iteration. This year, ISW will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from the 25th-29th of August 2024. ISW will provide a platform for scientific and clinical working groups where they can collaborate to establish the foundations for future diagnostic and surgical challenges. Further, the congress will host discussions regarding novel approaches and standards as well as facilitate progress towards real-time, patient-oriented solutions. ISW is a pivotal environment for students to learn beyond the lecture hall and hospital setting, to develop their professional and personal skills further, as well as network with global leaders within the specialty of surgery. The IASSS has also ensured a student-specific conference track to enrich the many students who will be joining us, having travelled from all over the world.

I have been selected as one of 24 FSP delegates to the ISW 2024. This is a prestigious opportunity for career development, networking, and exposure.

Unfortunately, due to extenuating circumstances, previously assumed financial support for me is no longer possible and, as such,

And I am in desperate need of assistance in ensuring that will be able still attend ISW this year. Any Assistance would be greatly appreciated and would go a long way in securing new, unique, and expansive

career opportunities for me, as pursue a surgical specialty.

I, therefore, humbly ask that you assist in fostering the surgical interest and dreams of mine by providing. with any and all support that I need in getting to Kuala Lumpur in late-August this year.
