E se bevendo un caffè in meno potessi offrire un pasto a qualcuno?

E se con un aperitivo in meno potessi piantare un albero o regalare libri ai bambini?

E se al prezzo di una cena potessi regalare visite mediche e medicine?

Latar Kalitan è la community di Salatiga, Central Java, che mi ha ospitata per 3 settimane.

Per me è ormai la mia famiglia Indonesiana.

Vivere con loro mi ha permesso di capire quanto siamo fortunati e liberi. Liberi di viaggiare, liberi di inseguire i nostri sogni, fortunati nel poter fare tutte le visite mediche necessarie e comprare le medicine di cui necessitiamo.

Nella loro semplicità mi hanno insegnato cosa sia l'amore incondizionato.

In tre settimane sono stati capaci di darmi più di quello che avevano.

Per questo sono qui oggi a cercare di ricambiare in qualche modo, innanzitutto perché il semplice costo di un caffè è per loro tantissimo, col costo di una cena possono addirittura permettersi esami specialistici in ospedale.

Ma soprattutto perché mi sono innamorata del loro progetto.

È una community molto attenta all'ambiente e alle nuove generazioni.

Sta cercando di creare una libreria per bambini, così che non crescano solo con la faccia nei telefonini, promuove eventi ed attività come teatro, musica, canto e formazione, così da creare situazione di interazione tra i bimbi stessi.

Si impegna nel ridurre l'uso della plastica e soprattutto il riutilizzo di materiale di scarto, creando con essi prodotti artigianali da vendere per raccogliere soldi destinati all'acquisto e alla cura di nuovi alberi da piantare nelle loro foreste.

Queste sono solo alcune delle loro attività.

Sono anche una grande famiglia dove ci si aiuta a vicenda senza limiti.

Per tutto questo, il mio obbiettivo è raccogliere fondi destinati, se non a realizzare qualche piccolo sogno e rendere più semplici le loro vite, almeno a potersi permettere esami medici, medicine e supporto per le loro attività.

Latar Kalitan is the community in Salatiga, Central Java, that hosted me for 3 weeks. They are now my Indonesian family.

Living with them allowed me to understand how fortunate and free we are. Free to travel, free to chase our dreams, fortunate to be able to have all the necessary medical check-ups and buy the medicines we need. In their simplicity, they taught me what unconditional love is. In three weeks, they were able to give me more than what they had.

That's why I'm here today trying to give back in some way, firstly because the simple cost of a coffee means a lot to them, with the cost of a dinner they can even afford specialist exams at the hospital. But above all, because I fell in love with their project.

It's a community very attentive to the environment and the new generations. They are trying to create a library for children so that they don't just grow up with their faces in smartphones, they promote events and activities like theater, music, singing, and training, to create situations of interaction among the children themselves.

They are committed to reducing plastic use and, above all, reusing waste material, creating artisanal products to sell and raise money for the purchase and care of new trees to plant in their forests. These are just some of their activities.

They are also a big family where everyone helps each other without limits.

For all this, my goal is to raise funds destined, if not to realize some small dreams and make their lives easier, at least to afford medical check-ups, medicines, and support for their activities.
