Hi :). My name is Agnieszka, I am an independent mom, teacher and speech therapist. I am proud and satisfied with the life I have chosen for myself and my son.
For many years I have been struggling with pain, which over the last year has become unbearable. I'm not able to function normally. This year in june I was finally diagnosed correctly. I'm suffering from adenomyosis and pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS). Endometriosis (the subcategory of which is adenomyosis) is a progressive, autoimmune disease.
Endometriosis is a disease of the female reproductive system in which cells similar to those in the endometrium - the layer of tissue that normally covers the inside of the uterus - grow outside the uterus. For example: on ovaries, fallopian tubes, tissue around the uterus and ovaries, intestines and bladder. It may also occur in other parts of the body. Some symptoms include pelvic pain, heavy periods, pain with bowel movements and infertility. Nearly half of those affected, have chronic pelvic pain.
I'm in that unlucky half.
NFZ's (Polish National Health Service) support for women with endometriosis is practically non-existent.
Diagnosis of this disease is wandering after gastrologists, gynecologists, internists, ER's and various hospital wards. Unfortunately, in Poland there are far too few competent specialists in this field. This greatly increases the cost of examinations, diagnostics and delays treatment.
Patients have no other choice but to pay for the tests out of their (rapidly dwindling) savings, given the type of needed equipment and the long waiting time.
The pain accompanies me every day and does not allow me to fully enjoy motherhood, work and daily life. I want to change it. I need pelvic vein embolization and endometriosis/adenomyosis surgery (I am in the process of diagnosis to determine the appropriate treatment). In both cases, the cost is huge and oscillates between 45,000 - 60,000 PLN
(About 8 670 -11 560 euros)
I don't have enough money. I can't afford a loan. I'm in debt because I had to become a single parent, which involved a lot of expenses.
I will cover the post-operative costs, medicines, travel, follow-up visits and accommodation myself.
I want to live a normal life. I have a lot of good and valuable things to do. I believe it's possible but I need your help to achieve it.
I will be grateful for any support.
