Description
Hi, my name is Daniel. Some of you may recognise me from other social media platforms.
I am asking for your financial support to get through this period of illness, which is preventing me from working (two weeks in hospital followed by a week at home, and so on up to six times, plus at least a month afterwards to rebuild my immunity).
In July, my GP diagnosed me with Hodgkin’s lymphoma (stage two, as it turned out). I had to wait over four months to start treatment (sic). Despite the very serious difficulties associated with the cancer (chronic, painful burning of the skin), I managed to find and keep a job on a building site, which I unfortunately lost in October (few jobs and I was the most junior). After starting treatment and chemotherapy, I also did some odd jobs in the finishing trade, but because of the chemotherapy I couldn’t work full-time, so I worked a few hours a day. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to get by.
Unfortunately, after four rounds of chemo, it turned out that my lymphoma is highly resistant to the chemotherapy I’ve had so far, and I need to be hospitalised and undergo a much more aggressive form of chemotherapy. This means I can’t work for a period of... well, it’s hard to say...as my oncologist and I calculated, 16 to 25 weeks, or perhaps even longer. If this treatment doesn’t take too much of a mental toll on me, I’ll try to start some kind of home-based work as soon as possible (preferably in logistics or transport, as that’s what I know best). I can use my laptop in hospital.
And now, here’s what I need the funds for:
I believe that I will overcome the illness within these 16 weeks to the extent that I will no longer need to be hospitalised and will be able to take up work. That is why I am asking for your help in covering my current expenses. These include child support for my daughter, debts from when I ran my own business long ago that I have been paying off for some time (I’m nearly finished paying them off but there are still a few months left), housing costs (rent and electricity – unfortunately, the only form of heating is electric, which currently generates high costs even when keeping the temperature in the house low) and other minor expenses such as internet and phone bills.
I would like to point out that at the moment I am not paying for the drugs to treat my cancer, but I did have to pay for the drugs to treat the side effects of chemotherapy.
All in all, this amounts to around 5,000 zlotys a month, so as I’m hoping to be discharged in four months’ time, I’m asking you for 20,000 zlotys. It’s possible that I’ll need to ask for help again after that, but I do hope to beat the disease and/or find remote work
Therefore, I would like to thank in advance everyone who is willing to support me during this difficult time, and I will pass on your kindness once I am free from the disease.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
