Hello hello :)
My name is Kasia, and for 3 years, I've been battling a massive, life-threatening brain tumour. Unfortunately, since June of this year, it has started growing back, and I urgently need another life-saving surgery that's only available abroad.
Since the tumour was detected in August 2020, my challenging, painful, and unfortunately very costly struggle for survival began. I lost my hearing in my left ear and experienced paralysis on the left side of my body, including my face. This not only causes stress but also physically wears me out. Simple daily tasks like speaking, swallowing, or walking have become extremely difficult and painful. I had to give up my beloved job and return to my family home to undertake this tough battle. It's not only painful but also very expensive. Unfortunately, I've already used up all my life savings on this journey, and I'm slowly sinking into debt. Without the support of my loved ones, I don't know how I would cope with all of this.
I've already undergone multiple brain surgeries and radiotherapy. Unfortunately, this has taken a significant toll on my health, both physically and mentally. I now have a significant level of disability. Every day, I have to lubricate my eye that doesn't close, exercise, and take epilepsy medication. Slowly, I'm transforming from a cheerful and vibrant person into someone who's in constant pain, barely walking, and speaking.
My brain tumour (Schwannoma WHO grade I) is massive and located in a very dangerous place. It occupies nearly the entire left side of my cerebellum and is pressing on the brainstem. I've already undergone three massive tumour removal surgeries (each lasting over 12 hours). Unfortunately, they weren't able to completely remove the tumour, and the surgeries resulted in significant complications. My left facial nerve and cerebrospinal fluid were damaged. This led to additional surgeries, epilepsy, and the placement of VP shunt. My poor brain has been through a lot and now resembles a Swiss Cheese.
In June, I learned that the tumour is growing back. My neurosurgeon is unwilling to perform another surgery in Poland and informed me that there's no longer a chance for me here. I need to seek treatment abroad. My new neurosurgeon recommended a clinic in Germany. Unfortunately, this life-saving surgery is very expensive, and I'm unable to afford it on my own. That's why I'm reaching out for your help.
I love life, and I still have so much to accomplish. Before discovering the tumour, I found my life's passion and work that I love and find fulfillment in. I'm a computer science teacher. I really want to get back to teaching, as I wholeheartedly believe that quality education can change the world for the better. So, I'm kindly asking for assistance in returning to work and continuing to shape our shared future.
Before my "tumour adventure" began, I was very active. I participated in many projects, helping both people and animals. Now, as my health permits, I try to share my tumour story and help others by running a blog that's meant to support people in difficult life situations.
Thank you sincerely, and I wish you all good health and positive energy
