Capital Gain Scheme Bonds are financial instruments designed to help taxpayers defer capital gains tax liabilities arising from the sale of certain assets, such as real estate. Under Section 54EC of the Income Tax Act in India, individuals can invest capital gains in these bonds within six months of the asset sale to avoid immediate tax implications. The bonds, issued by designated entities like the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), have a minimum lock-in period of five years. They offer a secure investment option, providing interest while preserving capital gains tax benefits.
