Verification of the fundraiser’s description
Verifying the fundraiser’s purpose is an important part of building its credibility. It gives donors confidence that the purpose has been confirmed by our team and that the fundraiser is trustworthy.
Fundraiser purpose verification checks whether the purpose stated in the description is accurate and whether the raised funds are used as declared by the organiser. It applies to a specific fundraiser and is separate from the organiser’s profile verification.
Fundraiser purpose verification is mandatory:
- after a report concerning the fundraiser is received,
- as part of preventive measures based on risk analysis,
- when a single fundraiser collects more than €5,000,
- when the organiser collects more than €12,500 across all their fundraisers.
Until mandatory fundraiser purpose verification is completed, withdrawals may be temporarily suspended.
Verification is not always a one-time process. If we receive a report concerning a fundraiser that has already been verified and some of the funds have been withdrawn, we may ask the organiser to provide additional documents confirming how the funds were spent. These may include receipts, invoices, contracts or payment confirmations.
In most cases, verification is completed smoothly and without complications. For organisers, it is primarily a way to confirm the credibility of the fundraiser and build trust among donors. Clear rules and a transparent process help make fundraising safer for both donors and organisers.
The organiser can also voluntarily verify the description and purpose of their fundraiser at any time to increase its credibility.
For fundraisers related to sensitive purposes, such as medical treatment or rebuilding a home after a fire, a “Verified fundraiser” credibility icon may also appear on the fundraiser page. This can increase donors’ trust, so it is worth completing the verification before receiving the first donations.
How to verify a fundraiser
If fundraiser purpose verification is required, the organiser will receive an email from us with further instructions. The entire process takes place in the organiser’s secure account and is handled by our team.
Fundraisers are often created in difficult situations, so our team supports organisers throughout the verification process – from answering questions to explaining which documents are required.
Log in to your account
Log in to your 4fund.com account to access the fundraiser verification options.
Go to Settings
Open your account settings, where you can manage verification and other account options.
Select Verify fundraisers
In the Settings menu, select Verify fundraisers to see the fundraisers available for verification.
Choose the fundraiser you want to verify
Find the relevant fundraiser and click Verify.
Upload supporting documents
After clicking the button, you will be taken to a section where you can confirm the information provided in the fundraiser description. Here, you can select the type of documents and specify who they concern.
As the organiser, you confirm the accuracy of the fundraiser description by providing the required documents.
The documents are sent directly to our security team. They are stored on a secure server and are not published publicly. Withdrawals may be temporarily suspended until the verification is completed.
On the screen, you will see a selection of document types:
- Medical documents (related to a person) – these may concern the organiser, a person under their care, another person or a person in someone else’s care.
- Other documents (not related to human health, including documents concerning animals, etc.).
Documents can be uploaded in the following file formats: JPG, JPEG, GIF, PDF and PNG.
Attachments should not exceed 20 MB. If you need to upload more files, please add them in several sessions, with a maximum of 10 files at a time.
Scans or photos must be clear, readable and show the entire page. No part of the document should be cut off. Complete and readable documentation allows us to confirm the fundraiser’s purpose faster and complete the verification without additional questions.
Complete the verification
Once the verification is completed, the fundraiser description can no longer be edited. Any new information can be added in the Updates section.
Examples of purposes and required documents
The documents required depend on the purpose of the fundraiser. Below are examples of the most common types of fundraisers and the supporting documents that may be needed during verification.
Medical fundraiser for the organiser
If the organiser is raising funds for their own medical treatment, they must provide documents confirming the diagnosis and scope of treatment.

The document:
- must include a doctor’s stamp and signature,
- should clearly state a diagnosis consistent with the fundraiser description,
- must not contain any redacted information.
For hospital discharge documents, it is enough to provide the first page, the page containing the medical summary and the page with the doctor’s stamp and signature.
Medical fundraiser for another person
If the organiser is raising funds for another person’s medical treatment, they must provide medical documents confirming the diagnosis and scope of treatment. The beneficiary’s consent, obtained before the fundraiser was created, is also required.

- must include a doctor’s stamp and signature,
- should clearly state a diagnosis consistent with the fundraiser description,
- must not contain any redacted information.
In addition, the organiser must provide:
- consent from the beneficiary or their parent/legal guardian,
- a scan of that person’s identity document.
Fundraiser for veterinary treatment
If the organiser is raising funds for an animal’s treatment, they must provide documents confirming the animal’s health condition and scope of treatment.

The document:
- must include a veterinarian’s stamp and signature,
- should clearly state the diagnosis or scope of treatment consistent with the fundraiser description,
- must not contain any redacted information,
- cannot be a screenshot – a scan or photo of the document is required.
Fundraiser after a fire or other unexpected event
If the fundraiser concerns a fire, accident or other unexpected event, official confirmation of the event is required.

- should be issued by the relevant authority, such as the fire service or police,
- must include an official stamp,
- should be clear and complete.
If the fundraiser is organised for a beneficiary, the organiser must also provide:
- the beneficiary’s consent,
- a scan of the beneficiary’s identity document.
Fundraiser for an organisation
If the organiser is raising funds for a specific organisation or institution, such as an animal shelter, children’s home or foundation, they must provide the organisation’s consent to run the fundraiser on its behalf.

- confirm its approval of the fundraiser,
- include the signature of a person authorised to represent the organisation.

Fundraiser for a creative project
If the organiser is raising funds for a creative project, such as making a film, publishing a book, organising an event or creating a product, they must provide documents confirming the feasibility and scope of the planned project.

- an estimate of planned expenses or documents confirming how the funds were spent if funds have already been withdrawn,
- contracts or offers from partners or service providers, such as contractors, recording studios or printing companies,
- other documents confirming preparations for the project.
How to change the purpose of a verified fundraiser?
Once the verification is completed, the fundraiser description can no longer be edited. This gives donors confidence that the verified purpose will not be changed without their knowledge.
However, if the original purpose of the fundraiser can no longer be achieved, it can be changed. This procedure requires contacting our customer support team and obtaining the donors’ consent.
The procedure is designed to protect both the organiser and the donors. It keeps the process transparent and allows donors to decide what happens to their donations.

How does verification work for multiple fundraisers?
Each fundraiser has its own purpose and the collected funds are accounted for separately. Therefore, verification always applies to a specific fundraiser.
In practice, this means that the documentation must relate to a specific fundraiser and its ID. A single invoice covering several cases may not be sufficient if it does not clearly link the expense to a specific fundraiser. This is particularly important for foundations, associations and animal shelters that run multiple fundraisers at the same time.
For example, an animal shelter running 20 active fundraisers – for the treatment of different animals, purchasing food or renovating its facilities – should keep separate documentation for each one. Each fundraiser is verified separately.
In practice, this means:
- keeping invoices and other documents assigned to a specific fundraiser,
- making sure that each expense can be clearly linked to a particular fundraiser,
- documenting how donors’ funds are spent rather than relying on informal arrangements or verbal agreements.
Well-organised documentation not only makes the verification process easier. It also demonstrates transparency and responsible management of collected funds, which can help build donors’ trust.
It is also important to remember that the organiser may be required to document expenses even after funds have been withdrawn from a fundraiser. Under the 4fund.com Terms and Conditions, the organiser may be asked to provide documents confirming that the funds were spent according to the purpose stated in the fundraiser description, such as payment confirmations or invoices.
What if a fundraiser breaks the rules?
Fundraisers on 4fund.com must comply with applicable law and the platform’s Terms and Conditions.
4fund.com is a licensed payment services provider supervised by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (UKNF). The platform also follows AML and compliance procedures designed to detect and respond to suspicious activity.
Users can report suspicious fundraisers directly from the fundraiser page. Each report is reviewed by our security team.
