Dear Friends and People of Goodwill,

I am writing to you from a heart full of hope, love, but also unspeakable despair, which has spread to my immediate family. Together we need your support and help.

In January 2024, my wonderful 11-year-old granddaughter Lilou was diagnosed with stage 4 striated cell sarcoma of the right forefoot with bone marrow metastasis (PAX3::FOXO1 fusion).

I am deeply devastated and need support to help both my granddaughter and my daughter, a single mother who also needs urgent help having fought tirelessly for eight months for her child's life. My granddaughter has to be treated with experimental methods, the costs of which are not covered by the health insurance, because there is no standard treatment for this type of cancer at this stage. Until recently, four 11-year-old children in Europe suffered from rhabdomyosarcoma alveloare. Of these, only my granddaughter is currently alive. Lilou is doing everything to recover. Even though she is taking 5kg of red, monstrously strong chemotherapy each time, she is trying to eat, move and take care of herself, she just wants to survive with all her might. Please help her fight for a better life. Lilou wants to sing, play, learn like other children. Unfortunately, we are currently facing the biggest and most tragic challenge of our lives together with my granddaughter and daughter, because the prognosis we are receiving looks very bad.

Lilou is currently being treated in Germany, but we would like to raise money for treatment in the USA or in any other country where the cancer that has attacked Lilou is successfully treated. Due to the rarity of this disease, it is imperative that we look for alternative options and places ourselves to provide Lilou with the best and most effective treatment possible. Unfortunately, in the public health service Lilou cannot count on anything more at this stage than what she has already received. The doctors clearly inform us that without trying to reach out for alternative treatments available elsewhere, my granddaughter will inevitably die. This vision fills us with excruciating pain, fear and an overpowering sense of helplessness. Our only hope is clinical treatment outside the public health system, and to carry out the molecular tests needed to create targeted gene therapy for Lilou. For all this we need money...

Over the last eight months, we feel that our lives are made up of nothing but misery and until January 2024, we would never have imagined that we would need so much help and that we would find ourselves in such a surreal reality.

As we cannot financially afford to take alternative measures that would represent a realistic chance of survival for Lilou, I beg from the bottom of my heart - please help me save my dearest, most beloved granddaughter and her mother... I would be grateful for any support.
