This fundraising campaign is for our daughter Markéta, aged 8, who was diagnosed at 7 months with a rare, sporadic mutation in the laminin gene, which causes muscular dystrophy. At the age of 2, following an incident where she choked, she underwent a tracheotomy and gastrostomy and had a ventilator fitted.

She is confined to a wheelchair! She is very perceptive, has a zest for life and a strong spirit!

After nine trips to a clinic abroad for assessment and monitoring, we had an orthopaedic brace made for her (as you can see in the photo), thanks to which she goes to school when she is feeling well and plays the piano, which she loves very much! Three trips a year are needed to have it made, and one to have it adjusted.

Alongside these trips, we have managed to get her an electric wheelchair that she can drive herself, which requires home adaptations such as a lift and a specially adapted car.

Every day she has therapies at home, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy, and requires a lot of consumables, as you can see in the photos, due to her tracheostomy and the equipment.

We have four trips ahead of us, and all the above activities must be completed by the end of March.

In addition, we have one more trip to the Netherlands ahead of us for an assessment, in the hope of receiving treatment.
