Sport is not just competition, it is emotion, sharing, freedom. But what happens when someone, due to physical barriers, cannot fully experience it? This is precisely why the Marika Project was created, an initiative that aims to break down those limits and make running accessible to everyone, without exclusions.

It all began in October 2024, when Marika, a 27-year-old girl with spastic dystonic tetraparesis, showed up at the starting line of a running race. Blonde hair, big eyes and a winning smile. But there was one problem: her wheelchair was not suitable for that kind of course. Despite cramps and difficulties, Marika did not give up. She fought, she smiled, she gritted her teeth all the way to the finish line. And then, with disarming simplicity, she said: 'I'm sorry, I would have liked to do more'.

Those words struck straight to the heart of those who accompanied her in that challenge, Angela G.. She was not the one who had to do more, but the one who could help her live the race in the right way. So the Marika Project was born from an idea of Angela's: to raise funds to buy a special wheelchair for athletes with disabilities, so that anyone who wants to experience the joy of running can do so, without obstacles.

But there is more. When Marika was approached about buying a wheelchair for her, she replied: 'I have already had this opportunity. I want this wheelchair to be for all those who have not yet been able to try it out". A powerful message, which turns this project into something even greater: a symbol of inclusion and equal opportunities.
