Meet Horace Sebastian Augustus.

A 9-year-old cat living in Lithuania. Throughout his, so far, relatively short life, Horace has gathered an abundance of wisdom and gentleness.

A couple of months ago, his health suddenly worsened: his owners noticed that Horace was having difficulties with defecation. Before attempting to do his business, he would spend a long time preparing, scratching the litter, going from one litter box to another, unable to relieve himself. And when he finally did, his stool was very poor — either black and hard, or too soft and mixed with blood.

The cat rapidly lost weight — from 4.7 kg down to 3.1 kg. Worried about his health, the owners took him to a veterinary clinic, where blood tests were performed. The results showed inflammation, so the clinic prescribed antibiotics and gastrointestinal food. After changing the diet and completing the antibiotics, the situation seemed to improve, but eventually everything went back to how it was before.

So, the owners returned to the vet clinic. An ultrasound revealed unclear formations in the cat’s intestines, raising suspicion of lymphoma. Cytology tests were performed — six samples were taken: three showed low cellularity, and the other three contained necrotic tissue from the mass. Thus, the clinic suspects either a granuloma or a malignant tumor, and based on this, recommends a histopathological examination, which would require opening Horace’s abdominal cavity.
