“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” – Plato

...

Hello dear friend,

Today is my birthday, and I’d like to ask for a small gift. Not for me, but for my friends from the Noke Koi tribe. :)

For the past two years, I have been supporting the tribe with various projects, both in their home in the Amazon rainforest and here on our European land. This coming March, April, and May, I will be bringing groups of people for an immersion into the Noke Koi culture, their traditions, medicines, and music. We will spend time in nature, in the heart of the mother of all forests—the Amazon. (To learn more, see @TreeWolvesBrothers on Facebook or Instagram.)

In celebration of my life and this beautiful journey, I’ve decided to launch this fundraiser to collect funds to provide high-quality musical instruments for the villages of Aldeia Timbauba of Paka Kamanawa and Aldeia Toniya of Paje Kochti, in the Amazon rainforest of Brazil (Acre).

“For it is in giving that we receive.” – Saint Francis of Assisi

The people of the Noke Koi tribe are extremely musically talented but lack good instruments to express themselves. Music is a central and essential part of their culture, especially in their traditional ceremonies and rituals.

Traditionally, they would sing only by voice, but since musical instruments entered the forest, they have adopted them into their culture and mastered them beautifully. The new interpretations and expressions of traditional songs, accompanied by guitars and drums, bring a fresh, vibrant dimension to their tradition. This has filled the hearts of the people of the forest with joy and light, and it is deeply touching us, their guests.

Many of the tribe’s young people have developed a passion for learning musical instruments, reinforcing their connection to their traditions and roots. Instruments are also tools that allow them to present themselves to the outside world, bring resources to their community, and take a stand in protecting the Amazon rainforest and their families amidst the political and climate challenges they face.

“The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and we, the musicians, are the messengers.” – Roy Ayers

Currently, both villages are home to around 150 people, including many talented children, teenagers, and young adults. However, they only have a few old guitars and one set of drums to share among them, which they do with open hearts.

I was inspired to create this campaign after my friend and young leader, Paka Kamanawa, shared his story with me.

Paka told me that he gave away his own guitar to his cousin, someone he cares deeply for, to support their travels and bring resources to the village. During a recent ceremony, the spirit told him that he needs to have his own guitar for the work he does, not someone else’s. So, he reached out to me and asked if I could bring one for him.

This story moved my heart, and I decided that I wouldn’t just bring a guitar for Paka, but also instruments for the whole tribe. But I can't do it alone. I need your help to raise the necessary funds.

In Brazil, instruments are 30% to 100% more expensive due to high import taxes and other factors. For this reason, we will try to bring as many instruments as we can carry with us to Brazil and purchase others, like drums, locally.

To make this happen, we need €5,500, of which approximately €4,500 will go toward purchasing the instruments and €1,000 will cover the shipping costs to the villages. In the attached pictures, you can see a list of instruments and accessories we plan to buy and bring with us: 2 guitars, 4 ukuleles, 4 guitalleles, 4 djembes, and 2 sets of conga drums plus stings and cases.

If you have ever received healing or other blessings from the forest, the indigenous people, or their medicines, this is a perfect opportunity to give back. Or perhaps you simply wish to help. Regardless of your motivations, please contribute in any way you can to this project, so we can support and surprise our friends from the forest.

They will be deeply grateful, and so am I.

As a thank-you, we will share videos and pictures of the tribe unpacking their gifts and playing their music. I can already feel the joy they will experience, and I know it will bring you joy too when you see these moments. :)

It would also help greatly if you could share this crowdfunding campaign with your friends and communities, to spread the word and involve more people.

It took me most of my birthday day to create this campaign. It takes only 1min to share it on your social media ;) Thank you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your donation and for helping to spread the word! <3

May you be blessed, and may abundance return to you a thousandfold. So be it!

With love and gratitude,

Jonasz / Tree Wolves Brothers
