For our beloved dog, Dudu's spinal surgery
Description
Dudu, our beloved dog, has been with us for nearly 10 years. We rescued him at 3 months old, and since then, he’s been a full-fledged member of our family. On March 10, 2025, we noticed he couldn’t lie down. We couldn’t see any obvious issues, but he cried when we tried to help him rest, and he couldn’t sleep. We took him to the vet, but they initially couldn’t diagnose the problem, leading to numerous medical tests (bloodwork, X-rays, ultrasound, CT, and two MRIs). These revealed two tumors, requiring the removal of one of his kidneys and neutering. However, the issue persisted.
Currently, Dudu takes 17 medications daily (steroids, painkillers, antibiotics, etc.) to manage his condition. With these, he can lie down and sleep, but this isn’t a healthy long-term solution. The final diagnosis indicates he needs spinal surgery due to a condition called discospondylitis, an inflammatory disease, with a suspected case of cauda equina compression (CEC) in the same area of his spine.
So far, we’ve spent over €3,500 on his treatments. We now need approximately €1,500 more for the upcoming surgery, follow-up therapies, and medications. Any support would mean the world to help keep our beloved Dudu comfortable and healthy.
