Hello,

My name is Luka a Palestinian Croatian living in Split. With great sadness, I'm reaching out to you today for help getting my family members out of Gaza to Croatia.

As of now, I have lost my cat after 82 days of the war due to the cold weather. I also lost my dog when the neighborhood was bombed and destroyed. There are eight members of my relative family in Gaza, including my parents, two brothers, two sisters-in-law, and two nephews. I lost my uncle today. We have lost over 80 of my cousins since the beginning of the war, and we don't know what happened to my aunts, uncles, and their kids. My family lost everything in this war, including our businesses and homes.

During the war, my family evacuated from the north to the south, becoming homeless and evacuating more than seven times. They are now living on the streets, and they do not have anywhere to live.

I have two nephews, aged six months and two and a half years, and my brothers cannot find diapers or milk for them. Besides my mother suffering from severe asthma and my father suffering from diabetes, we cannot find medication for my parents, as well as lack of access to clean water and food, which has resulted in a number of diseases.

My family members are highly educated and come from different backgrounds. My mother is a speech therapist, my father is retired, my brothers are professional accountants, and my sisters-in-law work in banking, but now they have lost everything and all their sources of income.

Finally, Croatia will open its doors to Croatians with extended families living in the war zone (In accordance with Croatia law, my relative family is considered my extended family ). However, they will not be able to receive any financial assistance for evacuees or their families. This means that my family will be responsible for all travel expenses and for settling in Croatia on their own.

As a result, I am the only hope for them to leave Gaza and responsible for all costs. Please help me collect the application fees and travel costs for eight people.

In order to facilitate my family's evacuation from Egypt and to Croatia, I'm setting up a campaign to raise USD $168,756 Here is the breakdown of the funds:

$168,756 USD = around $227, 187 CAD 

• It is estimated that USD $6000 will be sufficient to cover the basic needs of my family in Egypt, including their accommodation, food, and other essentials.

• A total of USD $120,000 has been allocated to cover the expenses associated with obtaining permits to leave Gaza, as well as crossing fees at Rafah, at the Egypt-Gaza border. This amount breaks down to USD$ 10,000 - $15,000 per person, including my two brothers' families and my parents' families (8 people).

• The cost of travel from Cairo to Croatia is USD $14,400

• The cost of living for two months is USD $24.000 for three families. This equals $4,000 per family per month (my parents, my big brother and his family, and my younger brother and his family).

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference to my family's safety. The funds raised will be used transparently and efficiently to ensure that every dollar is spent on ensuring their safety.
