Updates3

  • Yesterday, Lux underwent his second orthopaedic operation, a tarsal arthrodesis. The surgery went well, but unfortunately, due to prolonged inactivity and the various operations on his femur, his quadriceps has become severely contracted and he will almost certainly never be able to bend his knee again. Only a great deal of physiotherapy might slightly improve the situation. However, we’re not giving up and we’re pressing on!!4AS4v9BkT25nW20o.jpgiAcrzkIBjV32Ctue.jpgnKBpBm89w3AwckH5.jpg4lVS96y6mWEZYS4s.jpg

Description

Hello everyone, let us introduce ourselves. We are Giulio, Ilaria, Iside – an 11-year-old Border Collie – and Mizzi – a 17-year-old mixed-breed dog. Our problem is that we’ve been completely charmed by a sweet little dog who was abandoned at the vet’s after being hit by a car. Unfortunately, she had suffered extensive injuries: a comminuted fracture with femoral splinters, various pelvic fractures, a tarsal fracture, sciatic nerve damage and sacroiliac diastasis on her other leg, as well as severe skin abrasions over much of her back. In short, there was so much to do, we didn’t know where to start! But somehow we managed it; we decided that this little life still had so much to give to the world, so we took her in and named her Lux. Lux is an 8-month-old little dog, absolutely sweet and with a tremendous will to live and start running again. Thanks to so many angels, the skin on her back has started to grow back. We began with lengthy orthopaedic surgeries to try and fix what we could, but then tetanus slowed us down and put us to the test. Yet Lux never lost her spirit, and despite everything, we got through this too! Now, however, we need to operate on the fractures again, and we, her best human friends, realise that the costs are starting to become too much to bear. We don’t want to give up; we truly believe that Lux can one day walk and run in the meadows again, just as she probably dreams of doing when you see her little paws cutting through the air. We therefore ask you to believe with us and help us give her a future.
