Description

We are raising funds to make the fourth World Adaptation Forum possible in Budapest in 2027.

The ecological, economic, and social crises of our time no longer unfold separately. Climate disruption, resource constraints, food and water insecurity, geopolitical instability, and social fragmentation increasingly interact, creating systemic challenges that conventional planning and risk-management approaches struggle to address.

Mitigation remains essential, but we must also prepare for consequences that can no longer be entirely avoided.

The World Adaptation Forum creates a rare international space where these realities can be examined without denial, simplification, or false reassurance – and where scientific understanding can be translated into meaningful adaptation.

The beneficiary of this campaign is Cassandra Program Public Benefit Nonprofit Ltd., an independent Hungarian initiative and co-organizer of WAF. The Cassandra Program looks at today’s interconnected crises as a system and creates practical ways for individuals, communities, and organizations to adapt in a world that is changing deeply.

A proven international initiative

Since its launch in Budapest in 2024, WAF has developed into a growing international forum for scientists, researchers, practitioners, and leaders.

In 2025, Beyond Mitigation brought together nine speakers from six countries and produced thirteen conference recordings. In 2026, Facing Polycrisis expanded into a two-day program featuring sixteen speakers from ten countries. The relationships created through these events continue through research, education, public dialogue, and international cooperation.

WAF 2027 will build on this foundation.

Why we need your support

Creating a professional and accessible international forum requires substantial resources. The funds raised will help provide the venue and technical infrastructure, bring international speakers to Budapest, cover essential travel and accommodation, provide interpretation, produce high-quality recordings, coordinate the program, and extend its reach to a wider international audience.

Your support will allow WAF to remain professionally organized, internationally connected, and focused on honest, evidence-based dialogue rather than commercial priorities.

By contributing, you are not simply funding another conference. You are helping sustain a platform that connects knowledge with action, strengthens cooperation across countries and disciplines, and supports people and organizations seeking realistic pathways through an increasingly uncertain future.

Every contribution – large or small – brings WAF 2027 closer to becoming a reality. If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign with your friends, colleagues, or professional network is also a valuable form of support.
