Description

Hello, I need to cover the costs of a kitten I’ve had to take in.

Nero is the sole survivor of a litter that was brutally thrown into a field by the filthy hand of a human being.

Nero came to me at three weeks old; he was tiny, weighing just 200g.

Right from the start, he showed no appetite, but with a lot of patience and dedication, I managed to get him to suckle the minimum daily dose of milk (30–35% of his body weight).

Despite being so tiny, he was always lively and full of energy, but he hardly ever managed to put on any weight.

On Saturday, after a few bouts of diarrhoea, one of which contained blood, I went to the veterinary A&E, which is about an hour’s drive from where I live.

At A&E, he tested negative for parvovirus but slightly positive for coronavirus.

His lungs seemed fine, but he had enteritis.

As he was lively and cheerful, we were sent home with Nucron to be taken twice a day to limit the damage from the diarrhoea, and with a follow-up appointment for Monday (today).

Unfortunately, although he was doing quite well yesterday, today, after his 6.10 am feed, he took a turn for the worse. He started to become unresponsive and couldn’t hold his head up; I immediately administered Milky and took him to the vet who, after giving him a glucose bolus and stabilising him, transferred us to a clinic with an intensive care unit and an incubator.

He is now receiving fluids with glucose because his blood sugar levels are fluctuating; he is kept warm and will undergo all necessary tests, including:

-stool analysis

- repeat parvo/corona tests

-ultrasound

-complete blood count

For now, we can only hope to find out what’s wrong with him and why he isn’t gaining weight.

We must hope he doesn’t have FIP and let the vets take care of him.

When I offered to foster him, I knew I had absolutely no chance of covering the vet bills; nevertheless, both on Saturday and today, I didn’t need to think twice about taking him to the vet, even though I couldn’t afford it.

These kittens, and all abandoned non-human animals, belong to no one, yet they belong to everyone.

If you can help me, even with a very small amount, I will be infinitely grateful.

If you are unable to help with a donation, any sharing of this fundraiser is appreciated and could make all the difference.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Nero and Alba
