My name is Luiza Mandoiu, a mum who is passionate about supporting women and mothers living in isolation. Today, to mark my birthday, I am appealing to your generosity for a cause that is very close to my heart.

The current situation is alarming: in France, there are now 2 million single mums, and among them, one in two says she has no one to turn to. These women, often cut off from their families and friends, find themselves facing an immense mental burden, with no support and no guidance. The isolation of single mothers is a daily challenge, which can be overwhelming and demoralising.

Why is this so important to me?

Because I have become a mum and, like so many others, I have experienced the vulnerability that comes with motherhood. It is a life-changing experience, and I am deeply aware that every mum deserves to feel supported and cared for. The idea that a woman might find herself alone in the face of this ordeal seems unfair to me. Marraine&Vous is a charity that makes a difference by supporting these mothers. It offers them a sponsorship from a host family, who support them for several years. It is a precious human journey, enabling women to break out of isolation and receive the support they so desperately need.

This year, to celebrate my birthday, I’ve decided not to accept any gifts. Instead, I’m inviting you to support this cause that’s so dear to me.

The funds raised will be used to support this initiative, enabling Marraine&Vous to continue offering practical solutions to these mothers:

• Funding the family sponsorship scheme that links an isolated mother with a host family, providing moral and practical support.
• Developing support programmes to provide a network of help for women in need.
• Supporting social and educational activities to help these families rebuild and grow stronger together.
