Description

My name is Miklós Griffaton; I am 48 years old and live in Zsámbék with my wife and my 9-year-old son.

Our life, which had seemed wonderful and perfect until then, was turned completely upside down in April 2024 when I was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour following a bout of illness; the histological results confirmed that it was a brain tumour known as a glioblastoma, for which the survival rates are unfortunately poor.

Following the initial examinations, it turned out that the tumour was in a location suitable for surgery, so we immediately decided to go ahead with the operation.

Consequently, we had high hopes that, despite the extremely poor prognosis, a cure might be possible.

Unfortunately, the tumour recurred very quickly, which meant a second operation was also necessary.

It was then that conventional treatments in the form of radiotherapy and chemotherapy began.

In October, however, it sadly became clear that the treatments had not been successful and the tumour had started to grow again.

An alternative treatment option in Germany, which the patient would have to pay for themselves, was suggested, and the results are very promising. They can extend patients’ lives by several years with the help of a personalised vaccine.

The cost of the treatment is €85,000, which is an exceptionally high sum.

We do not have the means to cover this from our own resources, so we are trying to find sponsors so that I can undergo the treatment.

To this end, we would like to launch a fundraising campaign to raise the necessary funds.

If you are able to support me, please help so that I can be there to raise my little boy and survive this aggressive illness.

The treatment involves the development of a personalised vaccine, a description of which can be found in English here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-024-51315-8

Fundraising

On the donation page, we would like to collect donations in euros so that the exchange rate does not affect the amount raised.

The page suggests a few amounts, but everyone can also specify their own donation amount. In all cases, the donor’s bank will calculate the exchange rate at the mid-market rate at the time of the transfer, which does not significantly increase the amount of the donation.

Process and costs:

The first step is the analysis of the tumour tissue sample, which costs €20,000

Within two months of the analysis, the vaccine is customised and manufactured, at a cost of €65,000.

The manufactured vaccine is administered four times in the first week, followed by monthly doses, with its efficacy monitored using an immune monitor.

The further schedule of the vaccine treatment depends on the immune response, but the patient must continue to receive it on an ongoing basis.

Thank you for reading this through and for supporting my chance at life, even with the smallest of contributions.
