Description

We are raising funds for my little boy, Benben, to receive a special treatment in Mexico, which could give him the chance to live a (more) fulfilling life.

Benben is 6.5 years old. He is a smiling, intelligent little boy with extraordinary willpower who fights every day so that one day he can live an independent, dignified life. However, as a result of a tragic accident, he suffered such severe damage to his central nervous system that modern medicine has largely given up on him.

At the age of one and a half, on a February evening, Benben choked on a peanut and suffered severe brain damage as a result of a 20-minute oxygen deprivation. He got cerebral palsy and developed epilepsy and spent many months in the hospital, followed by rehabilitation.

Since then, Benben has worked hard for every small step forward—and has achieved results. Physical therapists, cognitive education teachers, and swimming therapists have helped him develop.

As a result of all this progress and persistent effort, Benben is now

mentally healthy and understands everything in three languages

has sustained attention and concentration

can sit and stand with assistance, and even take a few steps

makes sounds and occasionally says words

has become very sociable;

he loves children and animals

is extremely motivated;

he wants to learn and “live”

The progress is tangible—but these treatments are slow and limited.

I’m doing everything in my power not only to survive, but to give BenBen a real chance.

However, as a mother, I’m haunted every day by the question: what will become of Benben when I can no longer care for him? The more independent he becomes, the more secure his future will be.

We now have a unique opportunity. Thanks to a treatment in Mexico, Benben could eat, walk and speak once again, which would give him the chance to live a fuller life.

In Mexico, the biomedical company NeuroCytonix has developed a one-month treatment program for patients living with cerebral palcy, which is currently still in the research phase but looks very promising. The goal of the program is to restore neural connections in the damaged areas of the brain. Significant improvements have been documented in more than 400 patients who have undergone the treatment: reduced or eliminated symptoms related to movement, speech, and epilepsy.

Benben’s application was accepted after a long selection process and online interview.

The cost of treatment is $37,000, plus travel and accommodation expenses for a one-month stay in Monterey, Mexico. The total amount is approximately €40,000, which we cannot cover on our own.

Support Benben, so he can have a chance for a fuller life,  by sharing, spreading the word, or donating! Every little bit of help means a lot
