Description
My name is Saulius, I am 49 years old, and I live with my beloved family: my wife, son and daughter.
Our lives were turned upside down in August 2025 when I suddenly suffered severe epileptic seizures. It later transpired that the seizures were caused by brain tumours.
Following a successful operation in October, we received the histological results, which showed that it was a glioblastoma (grade 4 according to the WHO classification) – one of the most aggressive types of brain tumour, and the average survival time for patients is 12–15 months.
I decided that I would fight the disease for as long as I could, and over the next few months I underwent the conventional treatments recommended by my doctors: radiotherapy and chemotherapy, followed a strict diet, and tried to maintain not only my inner balance but also a positive outlook and good physical condition.
After treatment, an MRI scan carried out in April revealed that the tumours had returned very quickly, so a second operation was required and I had to continue with intensive treatment.
As soon as I learnt that a very promising immunotherapy treatment had become available in Germany, I decided to take part in it. It can extend patients’ lives by several years, using a personalised vaccine that strengthens the immune system in the fight against cancer.
The treatment costs 80,000 euros, which is a very large sum. We do not have the resources to cover these costs ourselves, so we are trying to find sponsors so that I can undergo the treatment.
The treatment involves the creation of a personalised vaccine, which is described in English here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-024-51315-8
Treatment procedure and costs:
Firstly, a sample of the tumour tissue needs to be analysed, which costs 20,000 euros.
Within two months of the analysis being carried out, the vaccine is tailored and manufactured, at a cost of €60,000.
The manufactured vaccine is administered four times during the first week, and subsequently once a month, with its effectiveness monitored using an immune monitor.
The subsequent vaccination schedule depends on the immune response, but the patient must continue to receive it regularly.
