Update 2:

Almost a year after the sexual abuse and spiking our friend suffered, we have managed to bring together a wonderful team of professionals to help us with the case. Since then, we have been fighting the Romanian legal system, which unfortunately does its best to bury these cases without protecting or respecting the people who go through such experiences, but we managed to find all the internal and external resources needed not to stop fighting and to prevent the case from being dismissed. The road is not easy at all, but major legal steps have been taken, and we are confident we will prevail.

Also, our friend is in therapy and has the necessary support to process the trauma she was exposed to.

We let the fundraiser open for anyone who wants to contribute. Hopefully we will manage to the raise the money for our comprehensive awareness campaign on the growing phenomenon of spiking and launching soon as well.

Following two weeks of intense work and ongoing outreach to NGOs, activists, artists, and journalists, our campaign has gained remarkable visibility. We’re determined to keep the momentum.

We are an initiative group reaching out to ask for your help in a recent case of gender-based violence. A friend of ours has unfortunately become a victim of sexual abuse following spiking with illegal substances (possibly GHB, similar to a “roofie”). She is determined not to let this act go unpunished, but needs financial support to continue her legal process.

We've found the DNAlogy laboratory in Greece, which can perform hair strand analysis to identify the substance. The results could make a major difference in the case, and the deadline for collecting the hair sample is early November. Our goal is to find proper ways to help our friend and to prevent such acts from happening again by holding the perpetrator accountable, while also raising awareness about the growing phenomenon of spiking, the non-consensual use of drugs, often slipped into drinks, to facilitate sexual assault.
