While most of us are thinking about everyday worries and planning holidays with family, Matija Farkaš is fighting the toughest battle - a fight for every breath.

Matija is 49 years old and has severe COPD. He is dependent on a respirator and oxygen, and his lungs are functioning at only 12% capacity. His only hope for life is a lung transplant.

But there is a big problem.

Due to the poor condition of the house he lives in, a transplant is currently not possible. After the operation, strict hygienic and technical conditions are necessary, which his home does not meet.

The conditions it must meet are:

introduction of city water supply (may not use well water)

removal of old floors and furniture

remediation of moisture and all possible sources of infection

Unfortunately, the condition of the house is very poor:

The basement is full of water.

the house is sinking

the walls are cracking

the tiles are falling

His wife Selma has reached out for help because she no longer knows what to do. Due to Matija's serious health condition, which requires 24-hour care, he is unable to work.

Without the help of good people, Matija has no chance of surviving the surgery.
