🌟 S.O.S. Youth Project / Póvoa de Santa Iria and Forte da Casa 🌟

Last summer, with Colónia do Saber, we launched a project designed for children and young people in our parish. These were weeks filled with:

Educational activities that stimulated creativity and learning;

Moments of sharing and friendship, where new bonds were formed;

Games, sport and culture, which provided wholesome fun and personal growth.

Participation exceeded expectations and showed us something very clearly: the young people in our municipality need more spaces and opportunities like these throughout the year.

It is important to note that the Colónia do Saber was organised privately, which meant that many young people were unable to access it or take part.

That is why we want to take the next step: to set up the S.O.S. Jovem Association of Póvoa de Santa Iria and Forte da Casa. 💡

🎯 Why set up the Association?

Despite the success of the Colónia do Saber, we realised that:

Young people need consistent activities throughout the year, not just in the summer;

There is a lack of structured projects that support young people through education, culture and sport;

It is essential to give them a space of their own, where they feel heard, valued and motivated.

The association will open its doors to more young people, ensuring greater inclusion and accessibility.

The S.O.S. Jovem Association will enable us to:

Create a well-planned annual programme of activities tailored to young people’s needs;

Develop projects in training, culture, citizenship, sport and volunteering;

Establish partnerships with schools, local organisations and associations to reach an ever-growing number of young people.

💶 Where will the funds go?

The funds raised will be used to:

Registering and legalising the association;

Purchase of materials and resources for activities;

Organising cultural, educational and sporting events;

Creating support and training programmes for young people in our municipality.
