Description
My name is Mrs Papp; I am 56 years old, a mother of three and a grandmother to a five-year-old boy.
I am due to undergo a stem cell transplant soon, which offers me a chance of recovery. However, after the treatment, my immune system will be severely weakened, so to avoid infections, it is essential that I create a sterile, safe environment in my home.
Unfortunately, I cannot manage this on my own. I have been receiving disability benefits for several years and am unable to work. My flat is in need of renovation: a complete refurbishment of the bathroom, replacement of the flooring, and the purchase of a HEPA-filter air purifier, disinfectants, a washing machine and basic kitchen utensils are necessary so that I can live safely at home after the transplant.
My health problems began in 2006, when I was diagnosed with several serious conditions, including myasthenia gravis, immunodeficiency and Raynaud’s syndrome. I was also diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a malignant tumour of the bone marrow.
In July 2025, the disease worsened: the cancerous cells began to destroy my bones, four of my vertebrae collapsed, and I was bedridden for three months, suffering from severe pain. Since then, I have been receiving oncological and haematological treatment, and I am currently preparing for a planned stem cell transplant.
Our difficulties were further compounded by the fact that I lost my mother in October 2025, and shortly afterwards my husband was diagnosed with malignant colon cancer. Since then, he has been receiving chemotherapy and is also unable to work.
That is why I am now asking for help.
Any support – no matter how small the amount – will be a huge help to me in ensuring I can recover in a safe, clean environment after the transplant.
I am deeply grateful for all support and shares.
With thanks and gratitude:
Mrs Gyuláné Papp
