I
A letter from my son for whom we need the donation
"Dear Sirs,
My Name is Panagiotis Tigkas. I am an undergraduate student at Arizona University in the College of Engineering.
After completing and getting a High school Diploma (2023), I followed up with studies at the University. I am interested in Aerospace engineering.
During my first years of life, pre-elementary and elementary school, I stood out and was distinguished for my exceptional gift in math (math iq:160/160 after Dr. Mousoulis's evaluation).
My strengths are creative thinking, abstract reasoning, exceptional speed in the process, verbal reasoning, and working memory. I can absorb and retain large amounts of information, especially about topics of particular interest to me.
I am honest, enthusiastic, reliable, and obsessive about research. Thus, I have developed a broad and deep knowledge base in my subjects of interest.
I am also a complex and passionate worker, an independent learner, responsible, and have a fine sense of humor, which has heightened all my senses.
I am also an Asperger, as my psychologists had found out in their evaluations and assessments.
This also means I have problems with social interactions and a few organizational issues, for which I need school and family support.
I struggle in many areas, though, due to Asperger’s Syndrome, where I belong.
I try to live up to the label of “high-functioning” every day. I have been coached and trained to do it, and it is something society expects of me. I am fortunate to have a fantastic support system, but masking is wreaking havoc on my life.
So, with the American School of Athens' (ACS School of Athens) support and my family’s support, I started Math online courses at the Center of Talented Youth (CTY) at Johns Hopkins University, where I have received many certificates since kindergarten.
Since then, all my schooling has been independent and in American schools, following the American Educational program.
While in High School, I worked with my teachers and consultants for many hours to help me with all the required college preparatory staff from the beginning to the result.
Since I had already finished the obligatory Math educational program even after graduating from elementary school, I continued with Advanced, college, and University Math courses.
Being part of the process made me realize how much I love Math and science, specifically Aerospace.
During these years, I realized I wanted to do this my whole life as a helper and a professional.
Once my mind was set, I started seeing the entire process in a different light. Even my teachers think I am a natural at it, a different thinker, and an out-of-the-box thinker who is always ready with novel solutions.
My educational mindset is simple: stability and function. I am determined to study comprehensively and never let what I start get in the way.
This trait has given me a vast knowledge spectrum. I have even enrolled in many classes since I was 4 years old, which give me a crossover of knowledge and a significant and comprehensive view of how things are done.
I have also worked for extra credits under and with the assistance of my professor of science, with whom I also did a research science project and experiment to gain a research perspective.
My experiment was about maximizing the Efficiency of Electrolysis at Room Temperature.
In terms of energy, the entire planet is going green. Conditions have necessitated the move away from fossil fuels. As such, one potential replacement is hydrogen gas. The research project focused on achieving maximum efficiency when electrolyzing water at room temperature and pressure to create hydrogen gas. Numerous electrode and electrolyte combinations were repeatedly utilized in a laboratory environment, with many primary data being collected. The data was quantitatively and graphically analyzed, resulting in rather pleasantly unexpected results regarding the efficiency achieved.
I want to become an aerospace engineer to provide service to my community. Living in Greece and the USA, I have seen many houses endure tough times. I want to help families like my family, I have seen homes break under problems; aim to help in all the way I can.
Aerospace could help research and improve eco-friendly fuel alternatives, make engines more efficient, and streamline the production of necessary goods to minimize waste.
I have decided all this not just by feeling but also practically, and I aim for one of the best Universities in the USA, such as Arizona University, for this field, which is also appropriate for me, with Asperger’s support.
I need to be in a supportive environment that will allow me to socialize and educate myself professionally in the field I love, giving the whole world a great perspective and future.
I want to thank you for considering me since fees are incredibly high for my family (they are two doctors, however in a challenging financial situation nowadays (the financial crisis of 2019, ‘mnemonia”, COVID pandemic, Russia vs. Ukraine war, and the Fuel Crisis).
My parents have supported me with such a great effort all these years, and it was outstanding and worth mentioning, but now the fees are really out of our reach and beyond our affordability.
However, your help would be our lifeline; therefore, I will always be grateful to you.
If I succeed in my goals, I will be available to you and share my strengths, mind, and education in the field I love.
I hope you will consider me for a donation.
With your assistance, I can make a difference in myself, my family, your community, and the world.
Thank you for spending your time considering my application, and thank you in advance for your love and support,
Yours Truly,
Panagiotis Tigkas
