Hello, dear kind-hearted people!

My name is Elena and I am the mother of a wonderful 12-year-old boy called Alexandru. I am writing these words with a heavy heart but full of hope, because we have reached a critical point and I need your help.

Alex was recently diagnosed with a condition called keratoconus. This condition distorts the cornea and his vision is deteriorating rapidly. His condition is advanced and his vision is becoming increasingly blurred with each passing day. Reading, playing sport, and even recognising girls are huge challenges for him.

The only way to stop the disease from getting worse is a surgical procedure called cross-linking. This, along with special contact lenses, will give him the chance to keep his sight and live a normal life!

The total cost of the treatment (for the left eye, the right having already been operated on in July) and the remaining contact lens costs amounts to approximately €1,100, a sum which, at present, exceeds our financial means.
